Coral World Museum Introduction
The white building hidden in the alleyways is a small family-run museum that records the glory of Taiwanese coral and preserves the cultural history of coral in Nanfang'ao. The coral industry in Nanfang'ao was once the brightest page in the global history of the coral industry, as the waters surrounding Taiwan house one of the few regions in the world with precious corals. The coral materials produced here are known for their fine texture, rich and complete color ranges, and significant production volume, ranking first in the world. Thus, Nanfang'ao plays a crucial role in the entire coral industry ecosystem and has become the main distribution center for coral in Taiwan. During the peak of Taiwan's coral industry, there were over four hundred ships harvesting coral in Nanfang'ao, which illustrates the prosperous scene of that time; today, only about fifty ships remain, reflecting the rapid decline of the coral industry. Witnessing this rise and fall, Lai Rongxing was determined to preserve coral for future generations in Taiwan and transformed his home into the "Coral Law Realm Museum," showcasing many spectacular coral works and allowing visitors to feel the warmth of local culture and strong human connections in Nanfang'ao. The museum has three floors: an art space, a cultural storytelling area, and a café. The first floor features a coral café where guests are welcomed and a gift exhibition area; the second floor is a gem coral cultural space that provides in-depth introductions to Nanfang'ao's culture and coral industry, as well as the ecology and types of precious corals; the third floor is the Coral Art Museum, primarily showcasing the director's decades-long collection of intricately carved gem coral works, worth a detailed appreciation. It is recommended that coral enthusiasts spend at least half an hour here, guided by professional commentary on a journey through Nanfang'ao's coral history! [Reminder] Guided tours are available for ticket holders. It is suggested that groups call to make a reservation a week in advance to arrange for professional guided tours of the museum.
