Su-Hua Highway 107.6K Trail Introduction
The coastline from Su-ao to Nan-ao, approximately 30 kilometers long, includes Nan'ao, Neipi Coast, and Dong'ao Bay, making it the most beautiful coastline in Yilan County. In this section of Provincial Highway 9 (Su-Hua Highway), the road runs along the mountainside, offering several vantage points to overlook the stunning coastline with broad views and excellent scenery. Here are some recommended viewpoints along this section of the road for reference, where you can park your car without worry. When driving through, feel free to stop at two or three spots to stretch a bit. From north to south: ● 106.5K Abandoned Concrete Platform: The best spot to overlook Su-ao Military Harbor, and you can also see the Nan'ao Cross-Harbor Bridge. ● 106.9K Rotary Little Park: Offers views of Su-ao Military Harbor and the Nan'ao area, with a parking lot available. ● 107.6K Mountain Trail Entrance: A concrete stairway leads to Nan'ao, and you can view the Nan'ao area along the trail. ● 108.2K Su-ao Inspection Station (Weighing Station): On the south side of the inspection station, a culvert path leads to the nearby Zhao'an Temple next to Neipi Fishing Port, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Nan'ao, Neipi Fishing Port, and the coastline. This viewpoint is the top choice for this section. There is a small parking lot on the north side of the station. ● 114K Small Parking Lot: Offers views of Dong'ao Bay, and you can clearly see the maze-like fixed fishing nets on the water's surface. ● 116.8K Pioneering Ancestors' Temple: The best location to overlook Dong'ao Bay, with a viewing platform behind the temple providing distant views of Fenniao Harbor and Wushi Nose, resembling a turtle with its head out of water. There are restrooms available, making this the best rest stop on the Su-ao to Nan-ao segment.
