Su-hua Highway 107.6K Trail Introduction
The coastline from Su'ao to Nanao extends approximately 30 kilometers and includes Southern Cape, Neipi Coast, and Dong'ao Bay, making it the most beautiful coast in Yilan County. In this section of Taiwan Provincial Highway 9 (Su-Hua Highway), the road runs along the mountainside, providing several locations where you can overlook the beautiful coastline. The views are expansive, with excellent scenery. Here are some viewpoints along this route for your reference; these spots have parking available, so when driving through, consider stopping at two or three to stretch a bit. From north to south: ● 106.5K Abandoned Cement Platform: The best vantage point to overlook Su'ao Military Port and also see the Southern Cape Cross-Harbor Bridge. ● 106.9K Rotary Park: Offers a view of Su'ao Military Port and the Southern Cape area, with parking available. ● 107.6K Trailhead: There is a concrete stairway leading down to Southern Cape, where you can enjoy views of the Southern Cape area. ● 108.2K Su'ao Inspection Station (Weigh Station): There is a pathway south of the inspection station leading to a tunnel next to Neipi Fishing Port and Zhaoan Temple in Southern Cape. The starting point of the path going through the tunnel allows you to overlook Southern Cape, Neipi Fishing Port, and the coastline, providing unbeatable scenery, making it a top choice for viewpoints. There is a small parking lot north of the inspection station. ● 114K Small Parking Lot: Offers a view of Dong'ao Bay, where you can clearly see the fixed fishing nets resembling a maze on the sea surface. ● 116.8K Pioneer Temple: The best site to overlook Dong'ao Bay, with an observation platform behind the temple that offers distant views of Fenbailin Fishing Port and Wushi Cape, which looks like a turtle's head. There are restrooms available, making this the best rest stop along the Su'ao-Nanao route.
