Eastern Taiwan Tangle Craft Museum Introduction
Hsiung Yi Enterprises, established in 1985, initially focused on exporting accessory manufacturing, with projects including tassel decorations, Christmas ornaments, and traditional crafts. In recent years, they have combined techniques from traditional Chinese culture, such as paper cutting, weaving, and embroidery, with Taiwan's silk thread wrapping method to develop an artistic and unique craft called "Eastern Tangle." "Eastern Tangle" features themes derived from Eastern elements like "totems," "flowers and plants," and "landscapes," merging techniques from "Minnan Spring Flower" and "Hakka Tangle Flower" into distinct Taiwanese crafts. Currently, "Eastern Tangle" can be categorized into: classic cultural creations, exquisite fashion accessories, and various framed artworks. Whether worn or used as home decor, they showcase a stylish and elegant artistic aesthetic, making them excellent choices for collection or gifting. The fundamental technique of "Eastern Tangle" lies in the wrapping, and achieving delicate results requires reaching a state of "Zen." It necessitates calmness and patience, layering threads slowly to achieve smoothness and luster akin to silk satin. "Eastern Tangle" crafts are based on wrapping methods while integrating elements of fashionable boutique items, developing a kind of Taiwanese cultural creation that encompasses both "tradition" and "innovation." The aim is to transform Taiwan's cultural products into international fashion goods, which was the initial concept when designing "Eastern Tangle" and is a goal our company strives to achieve. "Eastern Tangle" is purely handmade, embodying both local characteristics and artistic value, making it a worthwhile collectible and practical Taiwanese specialty gift. "Spring Flower" is a traditional craft among women in Minnan society, mainly worn during weddings, festivals, and celebrations as auspicious floral adornments. In traditional Minnan weddings, not only does the bride wear a "Spring Flower," but other female relatives also wear different tangle flower hairpieces to bless the marriage with happiness and longevity. Since "Spring Flowers" are carefully wrapped one thread at a time, they can be preserved as mementos after the wedding. Different styles of "Spring Flowers" signify different meanings. In Minnan dialect, "spring" sounds like "surplus," so wearing a "Spring Flower" during festivals and birthdays is hoped to bring continuous happiness and fortune. Additionally, during New Year rituals, a pair of "Rice Spring Flowers" is placed on decorated rice, wishing for "abundance year after year" and "prosperity and good luck," which is another representation of "Spring Flowers." To this day, "Spring Flowers" can be classified into: Kinmen Spring Flowers, Lugang Spring Flowers, and Northern Taiwan Spring Flowers, each with different shapes but sharing the same auspicious meanings. The twelve meanings of "Spring Flowers" are as follows: - Lily – May you have a harmonious marriage - Five Blessings Flower – May the five blessings come to your door - Pomegranate Flower – May you have many children and grandchildren - Chrysanthemum – May you achieve success in exams - Peony Flower – Wealth and prosperity - Round Flower – Completeness and perfection - Turtle – Longevity - Carnation – Abundant virtue - Deer – Promotion and advancement - Butterfly – Overlapping fortunes - Plum Blossom – Auspiciousness - Magnolia – Fragrant virtue Taiwan's only silk wrapping craft museum is located in an alley, a pure handmade craft museum. When you arrive here, you'll sense a beautiful contrast of old homes being renewed. There are no overly modern luxurious decorations, only a simple and elegant visual experience, a spacious area combining Eastern and Western styles, and each product is displayed like a piece of art, providing a comfortable viewing path. The Eastern Silk Wrapping Craft Museum is divided into two floors: the first floor is for selling artworks, and the second floor features large frames and exhibitions of artworks, along with DIY workshops. While the products themselves represent the context of a brand, how to accentuate the brand value of "Eastern Tangle" in packaging design is never overlooked. The packaging boxes of "Eastern Tangle" are designed in understated and elegant deep purple, using a black background to highlight the product's delicacy. "We want everyone who purchases our products to see them being carefully protected and hope that customers will cherish such 'delicate' items once they take them home." The second floor boasts a wider exhibition space displaying large framed artworks and other pieces that combine flower wrapping artistry.
