Eastern Art & Craft Museum Introduction
Xiong Yi Enterprises was established in 1985. In the early years, it engaged in the manufacturing of exported ornaments, including tassel decorations, Christmas ornaments, and traditional crafts. In recent years, the company has combined traditional Chinese crafts such as paper cutting, weaving, and embroidery with Taiwan's silk winding technique to develop a unique artistic product called "Eastern Twist." "Eastern Twist" features Eastern elements such as "totems," "flowers and grasses," and "landscapes," integrating techniques from "Min Nan spring flowers" and "Hakka twisted flowers," evolved into a new craft with Taiwanese characteristics. Currently, "Eastern Twist" is categorized into three types: classical cultural and creative products, exquisite fashion decorations, and various framed artworks. Whether for wearing or home decor, they all present a fashionable and elegant artistic aesthetic, making them an excellent choice for collection or gifting. The fundamental technique of "Eastern Twist" lies in the winding process, and to achieve a refined realm with silk threads, one must reach a state of “Zen.” It requires tranquility and patience, as the painstaking overlap of threads creates the smoothness and luster reminiscent of silk satin. "Eastern Twist" products are based on the winding technique, combined with elements of fashionable luxury goods, developing a Taiwan cultural and creative product that embodies both "tradition" and "innovation." We aspire to transform Taiwan's cultural and creative goods into international fashion items, which was the original idea behind designing "Eastern Twist" and is the goal our company aims to achieve. "Eastern Twist" is a purely handcrafted product that not only possesses local significance but is also rich in artistic value, making it a desirable collectible and practical Taiwanese characteristic souvenir. "Spring Flowers" are a traditional craft made by women in Min Nan society. They are auspicious decorative flowers worn by women during weddings, festivals, and celebrations. In traditional Min Nan weddings, not only does the bride wear "spring flowers," but other female relatives also wear different twisted flower hairpieces called "spring flowers" to bless the marriage with happiness and longevity. Since "spring flowers" are slowly wound by hand thread by thread, they can be preserved after the wedding for future commemorative purposes. Different shapes of spring flowers represent different meanings. In Min Nan, the word "spring" sounds similar to "surplus." During festivals, birthdays, and celebrations, wearing a "spring flower" symbolizes the wish for blessings and good fortune to continue. Additionally, during New Year sacrifices, a pair of "rice spring flowers" is placed decoratively on rice, wishing for "abundance every year" and "prosperity and good fortune," representing another aspect of spring flowers. Today, "spring flowers" can be classified into: Kinmen spring flowers, Lugang spring flowers, and northern Taiwan spring flowers. Although their shapes differ, their auspicious meanings are the same. The meanings of the twelve types of spring flowers are as follows: Lily - a harmonious union, Five Blessings Flower - blessings arriving at your door, Pomegranate Flower - many children and grandchildren, Chrysanthemum - passing exams successfully, Peony - wealth, Round Flower - completeness, Turtle - longevity, Carnation - virtue fills the hall, Deer - promotion and advancement, Butterfly - overlapping blessings, Plum Blossom - auspiciousness, Magnolia - fragrant and refined. The only Twisted Silk Craft Museum in Taiwan is located in a quaint alley, a purely handmade craft museum. Here, you can sense a contrasting beauty of old houses being renovated. There is no overly modern and luxurious decor, only a simple yet elegant visual experience, with a spacious area combining Eastern and Western styles, where each product is displayed like a piece of art, giving you a comfortable viewing experience. The Eastern Twist Silk Craft Museum has two floors: the first floor is for the sale of crafts, and the second floor features large frames and craft exhibitions, as well as DIY workshops. The product itself certainly embodies the essence of the brand, but the packaging design is also crucial in highlighting the brand value of "Eastern Twist." We see the packaging of "Eastern Twist" using a subtle and elegant deep purple to present itself, with a black base to accentuate the delicacy of the products. "We want everyone who purchases our products to see them carefully protected and hope that customers take them home and cherish such 'precious' items." The second floor has a more spacious exhibition area, showcasing large framed artworks and other products combining twisted flower art.
