Su'ao Harbor Introduction
Su'ao Harbor is located at the exit of the Lanyang Tunnel, formerly known as Donggang. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the Pacific Ocean, it is a naturally excellent harbor with a strategic geographical position, flanked by Nanfang'ao and Beifang'ao. Historically, it has been one of the trade ports that spurred the prosperity of Lanyang and has since been transformed into an international trade port, becoming an important export and import hub, as well as a miracle of ten years of land reclamation. Before arriving at Su'ao Harbor, you should know about the legendary scenery of "Su'ao Mirage," one of the "Eight Views of Lanyang." The expansive harbor, during calm spring and summer days, reflects the cityscape and creates an illusion of pavilions as if in a fairyland. Furthermore, viewing the entire harbor area from a high point during sunset, the twilight reflects the glimmer of fishing lights, presenting another famous scenic spot in Su'ao. To fully appreciate the beautiful harbor views, there are several excellent vantage points: overlooking from the Suhua Highway or Mount Fort can reveal the long cape on both sides of Su'ao Harbor, resembling a crab's two large pincers. Additionally, there is Qixing Ridge next to the harbor, where walking up the trail to a high point allows a magnificent view of the harbor to the south and a distant view of the Turtle Island to the north, showcasing the elegant scenery of Lanyang Plain with a broad field of vision and pleasant landscapes. Besides sightseeing, the waters near the embankment often have large fish, attracting many anglers to show off their skills, but please be sure to consider your own conditions and the weather, and pay attention to fishing safety!
