Nanfangao Viewing Platform Trail Introduction
The pristine Neipi Beach, with its tranquil atmosphere and pleasant scenery, often attracts couples to stroll here, enjoying their sweet world together. Therefore, it has a romantic name – Lover's Bay. Along the Suhua Highway heading from Su-ao to Hualien (at the 108 km mark), there is a viewpoint: South Bay Viewing Platform. From the west side of the viewing platform, one can gaze upon the grandeur of Tiger Head Mountain, while to the north, you can overlook Neipi Bay and Tofu Gorge. South Bay was originally an offshore island, but due to the accumulation of sand and gravel along the coastline, it became connected to the mainland, forming a land bridge island. From the hillside, the land bridge island appears as a series of small hills lying on the sea, with an elevation of less than 100 feet, featuring a distinct saddle in the terrain, especially the three hills on the right side, resembling a brush holder, thus the locals call it Brush Holder Mountain. The viewing platform also offers a distant view of Su-ao Port, making it an ideal spot for visitors to enjoy the sea view while waiting for the sunrise. The Second Fishing Port features a crescent-shaped Neipi Beach, where fishing boats are neatly docked within the harbor. Viewed from the South Bay Viewing Platform, it is the most beautiful of the three fishing ports.
