Nanfangao Viewing Platform Trail Introduction
The pristine Neipi Beach, with its tranquil atmosphere and pleasant scenery, often attracts couples for a romantic stroll in their sweet world. Therefore, it also has a romantic name - Lover's Bay. On the Suhua Highway heading from Su'ao to Hualien (at the 108-kilometer mark), there is a vantage point: the Nanfang'ao Viewing Platform. From the west side of the viewing platform, one can gaze upon the grandeur of Huxingshan, while to the north, views of Neipi Bay and Tofu Gorge can be seen. Nanfang'ao was originally an offshore island, but due to the accumulation of sand and gravel along the southern coast, it has connected with the mainland, forming a land bridge island. From the mountainside, the land bridge island appears as a series of small hills lying above the sea, with an elevation of less than 100 feet and a distinct saddle shape, especially with the three hills on the right side resembling a writing desk, which is why locals call it Banjia Mountain. The viewing platform also offers distant views of Su'ao Harbor, making it a perfect spot for tourists to enjoy the sea scenery and await the sunrise. The Second Fishing Harbor is the crescent-shaped Neipi Beach, where fishing boats are neatly docked; viewed from the Nanfang'ao Viewing Platform, it is the most beautiful among the three fishing harbors.
