Sankang Iron Factory Museum Introduction
In the 1950s, the fishing harbor of Nanfangao thrived, leading to a demand for fishing boats and the establishment of machinery manufacturing and iron factories for boat repairs. "Sangang Iron Factory," founded in 1962, is one of the oldest iron factories for fishing boat repairs still in existence in the Nanfangao area, witnessing its most prosperous times. Initially, it was formed by three skilled craftsmen and friends who prided themselves on their expertise, thus naming it "Sangang Iron Factory." However, due to changes in the times and advancements in industrial technology, the iron factory decided to cease operations in 2004. Nevertheless, under the efforts of its descendant, Liao Daqing, to preserve cultural heritage, the "Sangang Iron Factory Museum" was established at the original site, turning the first and second floors into a museum showcasing artifacts from the 1950s factory. The third floor serves as a small local cultural center, changing its exhibitions with the seasonal variations. The overall content and form are quite rare in the country. The historical space from the 1950s is filled with nostalgic artifacts and touching stories, and through explanations and guided tours, it brings back an abundance of fishing harbor knowledge and wistful memories, making it a must-visit spot in the Su'ao area!
