Sankang Ironworks Museum Introduction
In the 1950s, the fishing industry in Nanfang'ao Fishing Port thrived, leading to increased demand for fishing boats and the establishment of manufacturing facilities for fishing boat machinery and repair workshops. "Sangang Ironworks," founded in 1962, is one of the oldest repair workshops for fishing boats in the Nanfang'ao area, witnessing the peak prosperity of Nanfang'ao. Initially, it was formed by three skilled masters who were also friends, who prided themselves on their combined expertise, thus naming it "Sangang Ironworks." However, due to changes over time and advances in industrial technology, the ironworks decided to cease operations in 2004. Nevertheless, under the dedicated effort of its descendant, Liao Daqing, to preserve cultural heritage, the "Sangang Ironworks Museum" was established on the original site, with the first and second floors renovated into a museum showcasing artifacts from the 1950s factory; the third floor serves as a small local cultural center, featuring changing exhibitions with the seasons. The overall content and form of the museum are considered quite rare in the country. This historical space from the 1950s is filled with intriguing artifacts and touching stories, allowing visitors to gain rich knowledge about the fishing port and evoke nostalgic sentiments through guided tours, making it a must-visit attraction in the Su'ao area!
