Sangang Iron Works Museum Introduction
In the 1950s, the fishing industry in Nanfangao Harbor thrived, leading to a demand for fishing boats and the establishment of machinery manufacturing for fishing boats as well as iron factories for their repair. "Sangang Iron Factory," founded in 1962, is one of the oldest iron factories in the Nanfangao area that preserved the repair of fishing boats, witnessing the most prosperous times of Nanfangao. It was initially established by three skilled masters who were also friends, who considered themselves a formidable trio, hence the name "Sangang Iron Factory." However, due to changes in the times and advancements in industrial technology, the factory decided to cease operations in 2004. Nevertheless, under the dedicated efforts of its descendant Liao Daqing to preserve cultural heritage, the "Sangang Iron Factory Museum" was established at the original site, with the first and second floors renovated into a museum showcasing artifacts from the 1950s factory; the third floor serves as a local small cultural center that changes its exhibits with the seasons. The overall content and form are quite rare in the country. The historical space from the 1950s is filled with nostalgic artifacts and touching stories, offering a wealth of knowledge about the fishing port and a sense of nostalgia through explanations and guided tours, making it a must-visit attraction in the Su'ao area!
