Sangang Iron Factory Museum Introduction
In the 1950s, the fishing industry at Nanfang'ao Fishing Port thrived, leading to a demand for fishing boats which sparked the manufacturing of machinery. Ironworks that produced and repaired fishing boat machinery were established one after another. "Sankang Ironworks," founded in 1962, is one of the oldest ironworks in Nanfang'ao that maintained fishing boats, witnessing the peak of Nanfang'ao’s prosperity. Initially, it was formed by three skilled craftsmen and friends who prided themselves on their expertise, thus the name "Sankang Ironworks." However, due to changes in the times and advancements in industrial technology, the ironworks decided to cease operations in 2004. Nevertheless, under the dedication of its descendant Liao Daqing to preserve cultural heritage, the original site was transformed into the "Sankang Ironworks Museum," with the first and second floors reconstructed as a museum displaying artifacts from the 1950s factory. The third floor serves as a small local cultural center, changing its exhibits with the seasons. The entire content and form are considered quite rare in the country. This historical space from the 1950s is filled with nostalgic artifacts and touching stories. Through explanations and guided tours, visitors can gain rich knowledge about the fishing port and experience a sense of nostalgia, making it one of the must-visit attractions in the Su'ao area!
