Sangang Iron Factory Museum Introduction
In the 1950s, the fishing industry in Nan'ao Harbor was thriving, leading to a demand for fishing boats that sparked the manufacturing of machinery. Iron factories producing and repairing fishing boat machinery were successively established. "Sankang Iron Factory," founded in 1962, is one of the oldest iron factories in the Nan'ao area that has preserved the repair of fishing boats, having witnessed the most prosperous years of Nan'ao. Initially, it was formed by three skilled masters who were also friends, and they considered their combination a strong team, hence the name "Sankang Iron Factory." However, due to changes in times and advancements in industrial technology, the factory decided to cease operations in 2004. Nevertheless, under the dedicated efforts of its descendant Liao Daqing to preserve cultural heritage, the "Sankang Iron Factory Museum" was established at the original site, transforming the first and second floors into a museum showcasing artifacts from the 1950s factory. The third floor serves as a small local cultural center, changing exhibition items with the seasons. The overall content and format are quite rare in the country. The entire historical space from the 1950s is filled with nostalgic artifacts and touching stories, and through explanations and guided tours, visitors can gain a wealth of knowledge about the fishing port and an appreciation for its history, making it a must-visit attraction in the Su'ao area!
