Xinliao Waterfall Introduction
Xinliao Waterfall is located in Zhongshan Village, Dongshan Township, and is the source of the Dongshan River. The Xinliao Waterfall Trail is approximately 900 meters long and follows the Xinliao Creek Valley. However, to protect the ecological environment, there is a control station at the entrance of the Xinliao Waterfall, limiting the number of visitors to 350 people. The source of the Xinliao Creek is Xinliao Mountain, which is 980 meters above sea level. Due to the developed fault topography, ten waterfalls have formed along the way, with Xinliao Waterfall being the lowest one. It merges with Jiuliao Creek to form the Dongshan River. The trail is rich in diverse forest ecology, where visitors can often hear the sounds of insects and birds, or see butterflies and dragonflies fluttering about. The pathway is covered with both wood chips and gravel, and as you walk along the trail, you can smell a faint scent of wood. Its short distance makes it an easy hike, making it a popular public trail. When you reach the end of the trail, you can hear the sound of flowing water and see the impressive 30-meter-high Xinliao Waterfall cascading down. The pool below is a deep emerald green, creating a spectacular scene. Near the waterfall, the forest feels cool, and taking a deep breath of the air rich in negative ions washes away fatigue and worries from the hike.
