Shinliao Waterfall Introduction
Hsinliao Waterfall is located in Zhongshan Village, Dongshan Township, and is the source of the Dongshan River. The Hsinliao Waterfall Trail is approximately 900 meters long, winding along the Hsinliao Creek valley. However, in order to protect the ecological environment, there is a control station at the entrance of Hsinliao Waterfall, limiting visitors to 350 people. The source of Hsinliao Creek is Hsinliao Mountain, which is 980 meters above sea level. Due to the developed fault topography, there are ten waterfalls along the way, with Hsinliao Waterfall being the lowest, converging with Jiuliao Creek to form the Dongshan River. The trail is rich in diverse forest ecology, where one can often hear the sounds of insects and birds, or see butterflies and damselflies fluttering around. The path is lined with wood chips and gravel, and walking along it, one can smell a faint fragrance of wood. Because of its short distance and ease of hiking, it is a very popular public trail. Upon reaching the end, you can hear the sound of flowing water, and looking up, you will see the 30-meter-high Hsinliao Waterfall cascading down, with the deep green water pool below, creating a magnificent sight. The area around the waterfall feels cool, and taking a deep breath of the air filled with negative ions can relieve the fatigue and worries of hiking.
