Hsinliao Waterfall Introduction
Xinliao Waterfall is located in Zhongshan Village, Dongshan Township, and is the source of the Dongshan River. The Xinliao Waterfall Trail is approximately 900 meters long and ascends along the Xinliao Creek Valley. However, to protect the ecological environment, there is a control station at the entrance of Xinliao Waterfall, which limits visitors to 350 people. The source of Xinliao Creek is Xinliao Mountain, which is 980 meters high. Due to the developed fault terrain, ten waterfalls are formed along the way, with Xinliao Waterfall being the lowest and merging with Jiuliao Creek to form the Dongshan River. The trail is rich in diverse forest ecology, where one can often hear the sounds of insects and birds or see butterflies and dragonflies fluttering around. The path is paved with wood chips and gravel, and walking on the trail, one can smell the faint aroma of wood. Its short length makes it an easy hike, making it a popular public trail. When reaching the end, the sound of flowing water can be heard, and upon looking up, one can see the 30-meter-high Xinliao Waterfall cascading down. The pool below is a deep emerald green, creating a spectacular sight, while the forest near the waterfall feels cool. Taking a deep breath of the air filled with negative ions can wash away the fatigue and worries of the hike.
