Sanqing Temple Introduction
Sanqing Temple is located on the hillside of Meihua Lake Scenic Area, 7 kilometers away from Luodong Township. It is the main temple of Taoism in Taiwan. The temple has a grand and solemn atmosphere, featuring architecture that combines elements of classical Chinese palaces. Sanqing Temple is well-known for its vibrant incense offerings, and coupled with the tranquil and beautiful scenery of Meihua Lake, it attracts many visitors and worshippers. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Meihua Lake along the lakeside road to reach the temple. The overall architectural design of Sanqing Temple belongs to the northern Chinese palace style, characterized by colorful paintings. It primarily enshrines the Three Purities (Sanqing) deities. According to the instructions given by the main deity, the temple does not burn paper money, and offerings mainly consist of incense, fresh flowers, and fruits, which are very friendly to the surrounding environment. During the Lunar New Year, Sanqing Temple holds a blessing ceremony and offers congee for worshippers and visitors from the first to the ninth day of the Lunar New Year, symbolizing safety and peace. In addition to religious celebrations held on the birthdays of deities, Sanqing Temple is surrounded by mountains, and its spacious front plaza provides a panoramic view of the entire Lanyang Plain and Meihua Lake, making it an excellent spot for local residents to go for morning runs. At night, it is also a great place to enjoy the night view of Yilan.
