Sanqing Temple Introduction
Sanqing Temple is located on the hillside of Meihua Lake Scenic Area, about 7 kilometers from Luodong City. It is the main temple of Daoism in Taiwan. The temple has a grand and solemn atmosphere, featuring architecture that embodies classic Chinese palace styles. Sanqing Temple is renowned for its flourishing incense offerings, and combined with the tranquil and beautiful scenery of Meihua Lake, it attracts numerous visitors and worshippers. From Meihua Lake, visitors can walk along the lakeside road for about 15 minutes to reach the temple. The architectural design of Sanqing Temple primarily follows the Northern Chinese palace style with a strong emphasis on colors. It mainly enshrines the Three Pure Ones and adheres to the main deity's guidance by not burning spirit money; instead, offerings consist of incense, fresh flowers, and fruits, which are environmentally friendly. During the Lunar New Year, Sanqing Temple holds a blessing ceremony, providing porridge for visitors and worshippers from the first to the ninth day of the Lunar calendar, symbolizing wishes for safety and peace. In addition to religious celebrations for deities' birthdays, Sanqing Temple is surrounded by mountains, with a spacious plaza in front that offers a panoramic view of the entire Lanyang Plain and Meihua Lake. It has also become a popular destination for local residents to go for morning runs, and at night, it serves as a great spot to appreciate the night scenery of Yilan.
