Daxi Wood Art Ecological Museum - Wude Temple Introduction
Daxi Wude Hall was completed in the 10th year of the Showa era (1935). Before World War II, the Japanese promoted militarism and the spirit of Bushido, constructing Wude Halls in various places for police and youth to practice judo and kendo. In 1950, the hall was converted into a presidential facility, housing the Daxi Military Police Battalion and using the Wude Hall as barracks. After the Military Police were withdrawn in 1999, the Daxi Township Office conducted its first major restoration in 2000, and it was reopened in 2001. In 2004, it was designated as a historical building in Taoyuan County. In 2015, management was handed over to the Matsu Wood Art Museum, and in May 2016, renovations of the auxiliary buildings and the reconstruction of the corridor were completed. It currently serves as an exhibition space for large-scale special exhibitions.
