Daxi Wood Art Ecological Museum - Wude Hall Introduction
Daxi Wude Temple was completed in the 10th year of the Showa era (1935). Before World War II, the Japanese promoted militarism and the spirit of Bushido, constructing Wude Temples in various locations for the training of police and young people in judo and kendo. In 1950, the assembly hall was converted into the Presidential Residence, and the Daxi Military Police was established there, using the Wude Temple as barracks. After the military police withdrew in 1999, the Daxi Township Office conducted the first large-scale restoration in 2000, reopening the building in 2001, and it was officially designated as a historic building in Taoyuan County in 2004. In 2015, management was handed over to the Matsu Museum, and in May 2016, renovations of the auxiliary buildings and the reconstruction of the corridor were completed. It currently serves as a space for large special exhibitions.
