Daxi Wood Art Ecological Museum - Wude Hall Introduction
The Daxi Wude Hall was completed in the 10th year of the Showa era (1935). Before World War II, under the influence of Japanese militarism and the promotion of the bushido spirit, Wude Halls were built in various locations to provide a training ground for police and young people to practice judo and kendo. In 1950, the public hall was converted into the Presidential Residence, where the Daxi Constabulary was stationed, using the Wude Hall as barracks. After the Constabulary withdrew in 1999, the Daxi Township Office carried out the first large-scale restoration in 2000, and it was reopened in 2001. In 2004, it was announced as a historical building in Taoyuan County. In 2015, it was handed over to the Matsu Museum for management, and in May 2016, renovations of the annexed buildings and reconstruction of the walkways were completed. It currently serves as an exhibition space for large-scale special exhibitions. (Part of the text and images are provided by the Daxi Wood Art Ecological Museum.)
