Shidianzi 69 Organic Bookstore Introduction

Lu Wen-chun leases a century-old shop and strives to maintain the original appearance of the old house. Part of the small house is used as a bookstore, with shelves filled with books on both sides. Through a book exchange system, it provides travelers with a pressure-free space where they can rest and read comfortably. The small attic of the organic bookstore at Shidianzi 69 has been transformed into a backpackers' hostel. In the past, due to high birth rates, a single house would often accommodate over a dozen people, making the small attic a prime example of efficient space utilization by early Hakka families. Now, this small attic retains its function as a hostel for travelers. The charming and beautiful Hakka old house has become a hidden gem sought out by foreign backpackers. The small bookstore is not just a bookstore; the weathered walls are adorned with artworks by local artists. In addition to regular exhibitions, various activities such as storytelling by mothers and guided local light travel tours are actively hosted here, hoping to foster behavioral and ideological changes through art.
