Full Moon Round National Forest Recreation Area Introduction
Located upstream of the Dapao Creek in Sanxia, there is a beautiful paradise known as the Monyuan National Forest Recreation Area, which features waterfalls, rich ecology, and maple leaves in vibrant hues. About 40 minutes from Sanxia city, Monyuan National Forest Recreation Area is situated between 300 and 1,700 meters above sea level, maintaining a humid and cool climate throughout the year that nurtures a wealth of fern species, including the rare "Sphaeropteris." In the past, there was small-scale logging, and the neatly arranged plantations today testify to that era. This area is rich in birdlife, amphibians, and butterflies, with notable bird species such as the rare White-throated Laughingthrush and the Red-bellied Sibia serving as important avian highlights of Monyuan. Around December each year, the maple leaves here are breathtakingly beautiful, earning the reputation of "the most beautiful low-altitude maple leaves in Taiwan." At the end of the hiking trail lies the Monyuan Waterfall and the Maiden Waterfall, two of the area's major scenic attractions. From the Monyuan Bridge, one can see a towering stone wall over ten meters high obscuring the top of the Monyuan Waterfall, which cascades down dramatically, creating a magnificent spectacle. The Maiden Waterfall, on the other hand, is more gentle and graceful, and on sunny days, the interplay of light and shadow often reveals a rainbow-like splendor in the waterfall.
