Yuxia Cloud Waterfall, Gaga Ecological Pool Introduction
In the local Atayal folklore of Xia Yun Village, a legend tells that a demon hides in the pond; the bottomless blue-green water, the "resurrecting" aquatic plants, and the mysterious birds and beasts create an enchanting atmosphere. A waterfall guarded by ancestral spirits evokes awe that makes you step back. If you are filled with curiosity, you might as well add the local hidden gems—Yuxia Yun Waterfall and Gaga Ecological Pool—to your must-visit list! From the front of Xia Yun Elementary School, walk about 400 meters along the Kuchi Road, and you will arrive at the legendary ecological pool of Xia Yun Village, which surprisingly lacks any sinister feeling and instead gives an illusion of being in Jiuzhaigou! Stepping onto the viewing platform, the dreamy water colors created by aquatic plants such as wild ginger flowers, bulrushes, umbrella grass, and moneywort, along with microorganisms, are mesmerizing. The water in the ecological pool comes from underground springs and rainfall, and when the water level decreases in winter, a gentle rain can instantly revive the dehydrated plants. Aside from the occasional roar of vehicles, the chirping of insects and birds is the only background music. The ecological pool, which preserves its natural state, is home to a variety of species including frogs, reptiles, and birds, resembling a small Eden. During April and May, fireflies mysteriously appear to shine brightly, charming everyone! Walking down the Kuchi Trail next to the ecological pool for about ten minutes and entering the wooden plank path beside the viewing platform, you can reach the middle section of Kuchi Creek, where the Yuxia Yun Waterfall is located at an elevation of about 600 meters. The name of the waterfall derives from the Atayal language, meaning "the cradle of life." Unlike the tranquility of the ecological pool, walking on the wooden trail brings the powerful sound of rushing water, which builds anticipation for experiencing the waterfall up close. Upon reaching the platform, you can not only feel the shock of the surging water up close but also enjoy the abundance of negative ions, allowing your body and mind to breathe freely.
