Yushahuan Waterfall, Gaga Ecological Pond Introduction
In Xiyun Village, there is a legend passed down by the local Atayal elders: the devil is hidden in the pond; the enchanting bottomless blue-green water, the "resurrecting" aquatic plants, and the mysterious birds and beasts create an irresistible allure. There is a waterfall protected by ancestral spirits, and respecting it will leave you in awe. If you are always brimming with curiosity, consider adding the local hidden gem – Yuxiayun Waterfall and Gaga Ecological Pool to your must-visit list! From the front of Xiyun Elementary School, walk about 400 meters along the Kuzhi Road to reach the legendary ecological pool of Xiyun Village. Instead of a haunting feeling, you'll have the illusion of being in Jiuzhaigou! Stepping onto the observation platform, the dreamlike water colors formed by wild ginger flowers, bulrushes, umbrella plants, and moneywort, along with microorganisms, are absolutely captivating. The water in the ecological pool comes from underground springs and rainfall; when the water recedes in winter, the dried aquatic plants instantly revive after a refreshing rain. Besides the occasional sounds of passing vehicles, the chirping of insects and birds is the only background music. The untouched ecological pool, home to diverse species such as frogs, reptiles, and birds, resembles a miniature Eden. During April and May, fireflies make a mysterious appearance, shining brightly! Walk down the Kuzhi Trail beside the ecological pool for about ten minutes, and enter the wooden plank trail next to the observation platform. It takes around 20 meters to reach the mid-stream of Kuzhi Creek, where you will find Yuxiayun Waterfall at an altitude of about 600 meters. The name of the waterfall is derived from its phonetic resemblance in Atayal language, meaning "cradle of life." Unlike the tranquility of the ecological pool, walking on the wooden plank path allows you to hear the powerful sound of rushing water. As the sound grows louder, your anticipation to experience the waterfall in person intensifies. Upon reaching the platform, not only will you feel the shock of the surging water up close, but you can also enjoy an abundance of negative ions, allowing both body and mind to breathe freely.
