Wusha Harbor Waterbird Refuge Introduction
Wulai Port Bird Sanctuary is located in Gangbian Village, Suao Township, Yilan County, near the intersection of National Route 9 and Lingjiao Road, making it easily accessible. The area covers approximately 103 hectares and is situated at the southeastern corner of the Lanyang Plain, facing the vast Pacific Ocean to the east and adjacent to the famous Beifangao Fishing Port to the south, with local settlements like Dakeng Fishing Village and Yueming New Village nearby. Originally, this area was a winding river; however, due to long-term siltation at the river mouth, the water was unable to flow out to sea smoothly, resulting in the formation of extensive wetland swamps, which is how "Wulai Port" got its name.
