AMIS Sea Festival Square Introduction
The Amis fish-catching festival of Ji'an Township is held around June at the "AMIS Sea Festival Plaza." This festival site is an important location for inheriting the fish-catching ritual and Amis maritime culture. It is also the intersection of the Hualien Coastal Bicycle Path and the Guanghua Riverside Bicycle Path, which can be difficult to find on Google Maps, and there is no parking available. It is recommended to visit in the morning or before dusk, as visibility is poorer in the evening. Upon arriving at the plaza, the view is truly expansive, and there is a landmark installation art. You can sit on the ground to rest, and besides being a great place for the local residents of Ji'an Township to walk and jog, it also overlooks Hualien Bay, the mouth of the Hualien River, making it an ideal spot for viewing Hualien Mountain (Chiqi Plateau), gazing at the Pacific Ocean, enjoying sunrises, and birdwatching. To help people experience the local cultural atmosphere, the Ji'an Township Office has set up a directional sign symbolizing the "AMIS Sea Festival Plaza" at the intersection of Nanbin Road and Huazhong Road, designed with indigenous elements to guide tourists to enter the festival plaza via Huazhong Road.
