Taiwan Salt Panyin Tongsiao Tourist Park Introduction
The Taiwan Salt Corporation, formerly known as the Taiwan Salt Manufacturing Company, was established in 1952 and originally responsible for supplying the nation’s salt needs using traditional solar evaporation methods. However, with the development of the industrial economy and the increasing demand for both the quality and quantity of salt, ion exchange membrane electro-dialysis salt production technology was introduced from Japan, and the Tongxiao salt factory was established and put into operation in 1975 to produce high-quality refined salt for the national market. The company also capitalizes on the evaporated condensate produced during the salt-making process to produce various health-beneficial bottled products such as alkaline ion water and ocean source water, which have become popular among consumers. The Tongxiao salt factory is currently the only salt production facility in Taiwan, producing premium refined salt with a market share of over 80%, while promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction by making good use of ecological resources. To combine the unique processing features of the Tongxiao salt factory with nearby tourist attractions, it has developed into a touristic destination that offers both education and leisure, providing a place for emotional relaxation and intellectual education. In 2011, with the assistance of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan Salt established the "Yen Lai Pavilion" tourist factory in the Tongxiao Tourism Park. Under the dedicated efforts of the Taiwan Salt team, this unique salt industry tourist factory, "Yen Lai Pavilion," achieved multiple records, including being completed and evaluated successfully within just three months. Through lively and engaging exhibitions, it vividly presents the development history of Taiwan's salt industry. "Yen Lai Pavilion" is a comprehensive exhibition center that combines modern salt industry introductions with multifunctional classrooms. The guided tours within the pavilion reveal the high-tech professional salt production processes and corporate culture of the Tongxiao salt factory through the secret journey of a drop of seawater. Visitors can also engage in various salt-related scientific experience activities to gain a deeper understanding of the vast world of salt products. The guided tour includes sections on marine knowledge, corporate history, marine elements, production processes, salt knowledge, salt tips, diverse product areas, and a DIY multifunctional classroom, offering activities like cooking seawater into salt and a colorful lucky salt DIY. Additionally, there is an online query service for tracing food product histories. After visiting "Yen Lai Pavilion," guests can also enjoy the unique salt sculpture art at the "Salt Sculpture Cultural and Creative Park" within the area, inviting everyone to experience an intellectually enriching and healthy journey at the Taiwan Salt Tongxiao Tourism Park.
