Penglai Liu Clan Ancestral Hall Introduction
Located in front of Ruihu Elementary School in Sihu Village, this ancestral hall is dedicated to Enkuang, the founding ancestor who came to Taiwan, as well as to the deities of the ancestors. It also worships Guanyin and the God of Wealth (Fude Zhengshen). The Liu Clan Ancestral Hall was initially built in the 25th year of the Qing Dynasty's Qianlong era (1760), making it 235 years old today. The hall occupies a vast area, situated in front of the alluvial plain of Xihu River and backed by rolling green hills, presenting a grand atmosphere. The structure is designed as a Sanheyuan (three-section courtyard house), covered with green glazed tiles and featuring a curved ridge. Although it lacks intricate carvings, its simple and elegant style reflects the calm and peaceful characteristics of the Hakka people.
