1. "Lukang New Zuguang Temple" was built in 1787, making it a historic site and the only official Mazu temple in Taiwan, which is quite rare. Although the current structure is a result of later renovations, it remains an important historical testament, especially the stones and stone incense burner within the temple, which hold significant historical value. 2. The wooden structure of the main hall offers aesthetic value in construction, reflecting building methods and characteristics from a later period.

Xinzu Palace Introduction

The New Grand Palace, built under the imperial decree of Emperor Qianlong, was established in the 52nd year of the Qianlong reign (1787 AD). In October, General Jia Yonggong Fukang'an led an elite army of over 100,000 to land in Lugang and quell the rebellion of Lin Shuangwen. It was said that while the soldiers followed orders, they were also aided by divine assistance, thus the construction was funded. The foundation was laid and the beams were raised in December of that year, and it was completed by June of the following year, when the statue of Mazu was enshrined, commonly referred to as the "New Palace."
