1. The "Lukang New Zuguang Temple" was built in 1787, making it historically significant. It is the only officially designated Matsu Temple in Taiwan, which adds rarity to its value. Although the current temple structure is a result of later renovations, it remains an important historical witness, especially with its stone tablets and stone incense burners that possess great historical value. 2. The main hall's wooden structure has aesthetic value in construction, reflecting the building methods and characteristics of a relatively recent period.

New Zu Temple Introduction

The New Ancestor Temple was built under the decree of Emperor Qianlong. In October of the 52nd year of Qianlong (1787), General Jiaoyong Gong Fukan'an led more than 100,000 elite troops to land in Lugang to suppress the uprising of Lin Shuangwen. Although it was said that the soldiers followed orders, it was also attributed to divine assistance. Therefore, funding was allocated for its construction. In December of that year, the foundation was laid, and it was completed by June of the following year. The statue of the Holy Mother of Heaven was enshrined there, commonly referred to as the "New Temple."
