Lukang Tianhou Temple Introduction
Lukang Mazu Temple (National Historic Site) was established during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with its relocation dating to the 3rd year of the Yongzheng era (1725). It is the only temple in Taiwan that enshrines the statue of the Holy Mother from the Meizhou ancestral temple. The temple has given rise to numerous branches, including Beigang Chaotian Temple, Mailiao Gongfan Temple, Puzih Peitian Temple, and Changhua Tianhou Temple, among over two thousand others across Taiwan and abroad. Its followers are spread throughout Taiwan, with a constant stream of worshippers year-round.
