Lukang Mazu Temple Introduction
The Lukang Mazu Temple (National Historic Site) was established in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with its relocation occurring in the 3rd year of the Yongzheng reign (1725). It is the only temple in Taiwan that worships the statue of the Mazu deity from the Meizhou ancestral temple. The Lukang Mazu Temple has given rise to numerous branch temples, including the Beigang Chaotian Temple, Mailiao Gongfan Temple, Puzih Peitien Temple, and Changhua Mazu Temple, among many others, totaling over 2,000 both domestically and internationally. Devotees are spread across every corner of Taiwan, with a constant flow of worshippers throughout the year.
