Lu-Kang Tian-Hou Temple Introduction
Lukang Tianhou Temple (National Historic Site) was established in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with its relocation taking place in the third year of the Yongzheng reign (1725). It is the only temple in Taiwan that enshrines the statue of the Mazu deity from the Meizhou ancestral temple. Major temples that have branches and incense followers originating from Lukang Tianhou Temple include Beigang Chaotian Temple, Mailiao Gongfan Temple, Puzi Peitian Temple, and Changhua Tianhou Temple, among others, totaling over 2,000 temples both domestically and internationally. Believers are spread throughout Taiwan, and the temple is constantly bustling with worshippers all year round.
