Lukang Chenghuang Temple Introduction
In the 19th year of the Qing Daoguang era (1839), the Lin family of Jih Chao and local gentry from Quanzhou Yongning (Aocheng) respectfully invited the City God to build a temple in Lukang. Since the Yongning City God Temple is called "Aoting Temple," the Lukang City God Temple also adopted the name "Aoting Temple" from its ancestral temple. The main hall enshrines the City God, who is conferred the title of "Duke Zhongyou." Above the deity's altar, there is an inscription "Regulating Yin and Yang," which speaks to the duties of the City God in managing both realms of the living and the dead.
