Lukang Chenghuang Temple Introduction
In the 19th year of the Qing Daoguang era (1839), Lin's family from Rimei and local gentry requested the City God from Yongning (Aocheng) in Quanzhou to build a temple in Lugang. Since the Yongning City God Temple is called "Aoting Palace," the Lugang City God Temple also adopted the name "Aoting Palace" from the ancestral temple. The main hall is dedicated to the City God, who is conferred the title of "Duke of Loyalty and Protection." Above the altar is a plaque inscribed with "Regulating Yin and Yang," which signifies the responsibilities of the City God in managing both the underworld and the mortal realm.
