Lukang Chenghuang Temple Introduction
In the 19th year of the Daoguang era (1839), the Lin family of Rimo and local gentry from Yongning (Aocheng) in Quanzhou respectfully invited the City God to build a temple in Lugang. Since the Yongning City God Temple is known as "Aoting Temple," the Lugang City God Temple has also adopted the name of its ancestral temple, "Aoting Temple." The main hall enshrines the City God, who is conferred the title of "Lord of Loyalty and Protection." Above the shrine, a plaque inscribed with "Regulating Yin and Yang" signifies the City God's duty to oversee both the underworld and the mortal realm.
