Lukang Chenghuang Temple Introduction
In the 19th year of the Daoguang era (1839), Lin family of Rihmouxing and local gentry invited the City God from Yongning (Aocheng) in Quanzhou to build a temple in Lugang. Since the Yongning City God Temple is called "Aoting Temple," the Lugang City God Temple adopted the ancestral temple name "Aoting Temple." The main altar is dedicated to the City God, who is conferred the title of "Zhongyou Marquis." The plaque above the spirit shrine reads "Coordinating Yin and Yang," which describes the responsibilities of the City God in governing both the underworld and the mortal realm.
