Taiwan Craft House - Shih Chen-Yang Huatai Carving Art Center Introduction
Shi Chenyang was born in 1946 in Lugang. His father, Shi Kunyü (1919-), is a traditional wooden structure craftsman, hailing from Quanzhou, Fujian. Shi Chenyang's interest in wood carving was sparked by his father, as he often accompanied him to various temple construction sites during his childhood, gradually developing a passion for this craft. Around the age of 18 (1963), he officially began working with wood, with several projects still contracted by his father, where Shi Kunyü designed the work and Shi Chenyang was responsible for the actual labor, until he started independently contracting projects at the age of 34 (1979).
