Sun Moon Lake Shuishe Riverside Trail Introduction
The entrance to the Shui she Riverside Trail is located to the left of the Shui she Pier, marked by a wooden gate. This trail serves as an important pedestrian route connecting the Shui she Pier to Jiulongkou. The entire path features an accessible ramp that is very gentle and easy to walk. Following the wooden boardwalk along the bay and passing by the Chaowu Pier leads directly to Jiulongkou. The trail is surrounded by lush greenery, making it feel cool even in the height of summer. Along the way, stone walls built with local sandstone create resting points for visitors, where they can take a break or enjoy the view of yachts gliding across the water. On the calm lake surface, the sunlight reflects on the water, creating a shimmering effect, as if countless golden and silver coins have fallen into the lake. When it is foggy, the Xuanzang Temple on the Qingshan Mountain appears like an ancient temple from a traditional Chinese painting, evoking feelings of nostalgia. From any angle along the path, the Cien Pagoda on the Shabalan Mountain can be seen standing tall, resembling a sword that protects Sun Moon Lake. Upon reaching Jiulongkou, you can find artificial floating islands planted with wild ginger flowers, where one may occasionally spot herons hiding among the foliage, ready to hunt for food. If you still have the interest and energy, you can continue on to the Wenwu Temple's terraced steps or ascend to the opposite Bamboo Stone Garden to continue your journey. At night, a view of the Shui she Pier from the trail reveals blinking lights from hotels and restaurants that, under the night’s backdrop, resemble a dazzling array of colorful gemstones. The riverside trail also offers an interpretation system for obtaining tourism information and ecological knowledge, making it a very suitable trail for family outings.
