Sun Moon Lake Shuishe Scenic Walkway Introduction
The entrance to the ShuiShe Water-Purifying Trail is located to the left of the ShuiShe Pier, at a small wooden gate. It serves as an important pathway connecting ShuiShe Pier to Kowloon Mouth and features an entirely accessible sloped path that is very gentle and easy to walk. Following the wooden boardwalk along the pond, visitors can reach Kowloon Mouth directly via the Chaowu Pier. The trail is lined with lush greenery, making it feel cool even in the peak of summer. Along the way, locally sourced sandstone has been used to build stone walls with local motifs, creating resting spots where visitors can take a break or peer over the railing to fully enjoy the yachts gliding across the pond; or gaze upon the calm lake, where the sun reflects off the water, shimmering like scattered gold and silver in the depths below. On foggy days, the Xuanzang Temple on the Qinglong Mountain appears like an ancient temple in a traditional Chinese painting, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Meanwhile, the Cien Tower on Shabalan Mountain can be seen from various angles along the path, standing like a treasured sword, constantly guarding Sun Moon Lake. Reaching Kowloon Mouth, an artificial floating island filled with wild ginger flowers can be spotted on the lake, where one may occasionally discover a night heron lurking beneath the leaves, preparing to hunt. If visitors still have the energy and interest, they can continue to the Wenwu Temple's stairway or ascend the steps to Bamboo Stone Garden for another segment of their journey. At night, looking back at the ShuiShe Pier from the trail, the lights of hotels and restaurants twinkle, resembling colorful jewels under the night sky, which enhances their brilliance. The Water-Purifying Trail also offers an informative commentary system to gain travel details and ecological knowledge, making it a family-friendly path.
