Tea Research and Extension Station - Yuchi Branch Introduction
The Tea Improvement Station's Yuchi Branch tea factory is located southeast of Maolanshan in Yuchi Township. It was established in the 11th year of the Showa era (1936). The tea factory within the station was built in the 13th year of the Showa era (1938) and was originally named the Black Tea Experimental Substation. It was affiliated with the Central Research Institute of the Governor-General of Taiwan and served as the research center for the Dayeh variety of black tea in Taiwan. After the restoration of Taiwan in 1945, the Yuchi Black Tea Experimental Substation was transferred to the Agricultural and Forestry Department of the Taiwan Agricultural Experiment Station. In December 1947, it was merged with the Taiwan Agricultural Company’s Tea Division and was renamed the Taiwan Tea Experiment Station the following year. In April 1955, it came under the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Experiment Station and was called the Yuchi Tea Experiment Branch. In May 1968, it merged with the Pingzhen Tea Research Institute and the Agricultural and Forestry Department's Tea Training Institute, becoming part of the Agricultural and Forestry Department's Tea Improvement Station of Taiwan, known as the Yuchi Branch. In July 1999, it was officially renamed the Yuchi Branch of the Tea Improvement Station of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
