Tea Research and Extension Station - Yuchi Branch Introduction
The tea processing factory of the Tea Research and Extension Station, Yuchi Branch is located southeast of Maolanshan in Yuchi Township. It was founded in the 11th year of the Shōwa era (1936). The tea processing factory was built in the 13th year of the Shōwa era (1938) and was originally named the Black Tea Experimental Station, which was affiliated with the Central Research Institute of the Governor-General of Taiwan and served as the research center for the Dayeh variety black tea. After Taiwan's retrocession in 1945, the Yuchi Black Tea Experimental Station was reaffiliated with the Agriculture and Forestry Department of the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute. In December 1947, it was merged into the Tea Branch of the Taiwan Agricultural Company, and the following year it was renamed the Taiwan Tea Research Institute. In April 1955, it was transferred to the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Research Institute and designated as the Yuchi Tea Research Branch. In May 1968, it merged with the Pingzhen Tea Experiment Station and the Agricultural and Forestry Department's Tea Training Institute to become part of the Agricultural and Forestry Department of the Taiwan Provincial Tea Research Station and was called the Yuchi Branch. In July 1999, it was renamed the Tea Research and Extension Station, Yuchi Branch under the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
