Tea Experiment Station - Yuchi Branch Introduction
The Tea Improvement Station Yuchi Branch's tea factory is located southeast of Mount Mao-Lao in Yuchi Township. It was established in the 11th year of the Showa era (1936). The tea factory was built in the 13th year of the Showa era (1938) and was originally named the Black Tea Experiment Station, under the jurisdiction of the Central Research Institute of the Government-General of Taiwan, serving as the research center for the Dajia tea variety. After Taiwan's retrocession in 1945, the Yuchi Black Tea Experiment Station was restructured under the Agricultural and Forestry Department of the Taiwan Agricultural Experiment Station. In December 1947, it was merged into the Tea Division of Taiwan Agricultural Company and renamed Taiwan Tea Experiment Station the following year. In April 1955, it was transferred to the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Experiment Station and named the Yuchi Tea Experiment Branch. In May 1968, it merged with the Pingzhen Tea Experiment Station and the Agricultural and Forestry Department's Tea Training Center to become the Tea Improvement Station of the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Department, known as the Yuchi Branch. In July 1999, it was restructured as the Yuchi Branch of the Tea Improvement Station under the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
