Longfeng Temple Introduction
Longfeng Temple is the center of faith for the residents of Sun Moon Lake, dedicated to various deities including the Master of the Ancestors, Xuantian Shangdi, Tian Shang Shengmu, Jiu Tian Xuannü, the Third Prince, and the God of Wealth. Sun Moon Lake boasts natural scenery and is a picturesque spot, making it a great place for young couples to fall in love. Thus, Huang Huoshou suggested to the then Nantou County Magistrate Yang Zhaobi to build a temple for the God of Marriage, Yuelao, for visitors to worship and make wishes. Consequently, a "Yuelao Pavilion" was established on Lalu Island, modeled after China's West Lake, but was later destroyed in the 921 earthquake, leading to Yuelao being moved to Longfeng Temple where it remains to this day. Yuelao is believed to be very effective; single men and women visiting Sun Moon Lake might consider coming here to worship Yuelao and pray for love to blossom quickly.
