Dazhu Lake Trail Introduction
The Zhuoshui Lake Nature Trail, only 200 meters long, is the shortest trail by Sun Moon Lake. Enter from the parking lot below the road, and not far ahead, there is a viewing platform. To the right of the platform, a path leads down to the lakeside, where below the trail there is a thundering water outlet, a well-known attraction of Sun Moon Lake – the Sun Moon Spring. In fact, it is the outfall of the Wujie water diversion channel. During the Japanese occupation, a tunnel was dug from the Wujie tribe in Ren'ai Township to Sun Moon Lake, diverting water from the upper reaches of the Zhuoshui River into the lake as a consistent water source. The wetlands are gradually filled with sediment over the years, leading to the growth of reeds and serving as an important breeding ground for fish and shrimp in the lake, as well as a habitat for egrets, night herons, and kingfishers. During migratory bird seasons, flocks of geese and ducks create a spectacular sight. Taking the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway to ascend Mount Bujih, one crosses a valley, and this cable line, like a pearl necklace, draws a smiling arc in the air, providing an unobstructed panoramic view and the best perspective to overlook the lake.
