Church of Jesus Introduction
The Jesus Church at Sun Moon Lake is nestled among the trees on the hillside of the Xiangbi Peninsula. Its Romanesque architecture, featuring yellow walls and white columns, embodies classical elegance, providing a magnificent view of Sun Moon Lake from the church. Built in 1971 by former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife during their visit to Sun Moon Lake to pray, the church's exterior lounge and dormitory were cracked and tilted during the 921 earthquake. It was restored and reopened for visitors by the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration in 2003, becoming a popular spot for wedding photography for both domestic and international tourists. In 2017, the church was leased to a private company for operation and management, which has adorned it with a professional aesthetic for weddings and wedding photography, uncovering the church's mysterious charm and creating a dreamlike journey for happy travelers by the lake.
