Jesus Chapel Introduction
The Jesus Church at Sun Moon Lake is hidden among the trees on the hillside of the Hanbi Peninsula. The Romanesque building with its yellow walls and white columns highlights classic elegance, and from the church, one can enjoy an unobstructed view of the stunning scenery of Sun Moon Lake. Constructed in the 60th year of the Republic of China, the church was built by former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife during their visit to Sun Moon Lake for prayer. After the 921 earthquake, the outer lounge and dormitories were cracked and tilted, and the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration renovated the church in the 92nd year of the Republic of China, making it open for visitors, and it has since become a popular spot for couples to take wedding photos. In 2017, the church was leased to a private company for management, and with the professional aesthetics of wedding ceremonies and photography, the traditionally styled church unveiled its mysterious veil, bringing a new look to couples from home and abroad who dream of embarking on a blissful journey by the lake.
