Church of Jesus Introduction
The Christ Church at Sun Moon Lake is nestled among the trees on the hillside of the Hanbi Peninsula. Its Romanesque architecture features yellow walls and white columns that exude classical elegance, providing an unobstructed view of the stunning Sun Moon Lake scenery from the church. Built in 1971 by former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife during their visit to Sun Moon Lake for worship and prayer, the church's outer lobby and dormitory suffered cracks and tilting during the 921 Earthquake. It was renovated and opened for tourist visits by the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration in 2003, becoming a popular spot for both domestic and international tourists to take wedding photos. In 2017, the church was managed by a private company, reimagined with a professional aesthetic for weddings and bridal photography, allowing the traditional Christ Church to unveil its mystery with a new look, welcoming happy travelers seeking a dreamy lakeside journey.
