Church of Jesus Introduction
The Jesus Church at Sun Moon Lake is nestled among the trees on the mountainside of the Hanbi Peninsula. This Romanesque structure, featuring yellow walls and white pillars, embodies classical elegance and offers stunning views of Sun Moon Lake from its vantage point. Established in 1971 by the former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife during their visit to pray at Sun Moon Lake, the church suffered damage during the 921 earthquake, causing cracks and tilts in the surrounding lounge and dormitory. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration renovated the church and reopened it to visitors in 2003, quickly becoming a popular spot for both domestic and international tourists for wedding photography. In 2017, the church began operating under the management of a private company, which has enhanced its aesthetic appeal for weddings and marriage photography, unveiling the church's traditional charm to create a dreamy lakeside experience for happy travelers from around the world.
