Daluo Guan Stone Lion God Introduction
The belief in stone lions is extremely rare in Hakka settlements. Guangfu Village, formerly known as "Daluoguan," has three stone lions that are majestic and amusing, each with distinct postures. Their robust and towering shapes are unique to Taiwan. It is said that over 200 years ago, when Hakka pioneers were first establishing the settlement, they faced constant disasters from floods, ferocious beasts, indigenous people, and strong winds. To ensure their safety and a stable livelihood, the villagers created the first stone lion. In 1856, a mountain flood buried the stone lion in mud and sand, and it wasn't until 1984 that bridge workers, hearing the roar of a lion at night, excavated it with large machinery, allowing it to see the light of day again. The villagers later built two more stone lions in 1918 and 1965. Currently, the first stone lion stands in front of Shuntian Temple in the village, while the other two are located in Lion Park, continuing to guard the settlement.
