Saijia Community Trail Introduction

The Saijia Trail is located behind Saijia Elementary School and has a total length of 2,100 meters, leading to the Saijia Airfield. While strolling along the Saijia Trail, one can often hear the calls of the soaring Grey-headed Fish Eagle and the Crested Serpent Eagle. If fortunate, the endangered Flame-breasted Flowerpecker might also join in, producing its low nasal sounds. At night, the calls of owls can even be heard. Saijia Elementary School has built a butterfly eco-park at the trail's entrance, planting many host plants for butterflies and nectar plants. For those taking a nighttime ecological adventure, one can listen closely for the ticking calls of the Small Rain Frog, the turkey-like calls of the Polypedates braueri, the chirping calls of the Japanese Tree Frog, the sounds of the Rhacophorus arboreus mimicking human restroom noises, and the calls of the Taiwanese Brown Frog asking for money. The collective chorus of these various frog species is lively and interesting, resembling a pastoral symphony. It is recommended to spend about an hour enjoying the leisurely pace of the ecological trail and the natural scenery along the way.
