Fenggang Purple Bamboo Forest Longfeng Temple Introduction
Fenggang Zizhu Lin Longfeng Temple was founded after the Bodhisattva possessed Dong Liangming, a resident of Fenggang, to designate a site of overgrown weeds at the waist of Longshan. Through the efforts of like-minded individuals, with those who could contribute money and those who could lend a hand, and using only primitive tools without fear of thorns, snakes, or mosquitoes, they embodied the spirit of Yu Gong (the Foolish Old Man) moving mountains, clearing stones, and leveling the land to build a humble straw hut to honor the Bodhisattva. After several decades of turbulent years, it was rebuilt in 1966 into a mud wall and iron sheet structure, barely qualifying as a temple. Under the leadership of successive chairpersons such as Wang Shoulin, Wang Guangrui, Wang Guangsheng, and Wang Xiuqing, and with the strong support of kind devotees, it took several more decades of dedicated effort, collective wisdom, and selfless contributions to finally complete the temple in 2002. Fenggang Zizhu Lin Longfeng Temple honors the Greatly Accomplished Bodhisattva, promotes the Bodhisattva's compassion and altruism, and advocates for traditional culture and proper social mores. It has become a center for faith and fellowship for devotees across the province, with hopes for the Bodhisattva's spirit of delivering all sentient beings to continue to flourish.
