Fenggang Purple Bamboo Forest Longfeng Temple Introduction
Fenggang Purple Bamboo Forest Longfeng Temple was founded after the Bodhisattva possessed Dong Liangming, a resident of Fenggang, who pointed out the site on the hillside of Longshan, which was overgrown with weeds and wild grasses. With the dedication of like-minded individuals, some contributing financially and others through labor, and relying on rudimentary tools despite the challenges posed by thorns, snakes, and mosquitoes, they embodied the spirit of "Yugong Yishan" (a famous Chinese tale of perseverance) to level the land and construct a thatched hut to serve as a place of worship for the Bodhisattva. After decades of struggles through rain and storms, the temple was upgraded in 1966 to a structure of earthen walls and iron sheets, barely functioning as a temple. Under the leadership of successive committee chairpersons Wang Shoulin, Wang Guangrui, Wang Guangsheng, and Wang Xiuqing, with the strong support of the community and benefactors, and after decades of hard work, collaboration, and selfless dedication, the temple was fully completed and consecrated in 2002. Fenggang Purple Bamboo Forest Longfeng Temple, which enshrines the Bodhisattva of Great Conduct, promotes the Bodhisattva's spirit of compassion and care for the world, advocates for the preservation of traditional culture, and promotes positive social values. It has become a center of faith and fellowship for believers throughout the province, hoping for the continued expansion of the Bodhisattva's mission to save all beings.
