Jialeshuei Scenic Area Introduction
Jialeshui, originally named Jialuo Water, was renamed by Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo during his inspection in 1975, wishing for peace and prosperity in the area. The Jialeshui Scenic Area is located near the northern port of Eluanbi, with a geographical position that features mountains at the back and the ocean in the front. The geology consists of layered sandstone, and this area marks the boundary between coral reef coasts and sandstone coasts, extending northward into a sandstone coastline distinct from the coral reefs found on the southern side of the Hengchun Peninsula. The rock layers here have been sculpted into various unique shapes due to long-term erosion by strong winds and ocean currents, creating geographical features like stone beads, potholes, honeycomb stones, checkerboard stones, and marine erosion platforms. Many vividly shaped rocks resembling rabbits, frogs, turtles, and other forms add to the area's rich and diverse beauty. In addition to the stunning rock formations, there is a 30-meter "Mountain-Sea Waterfall," a rare coastal waterfall in Taiwan and the only large waterfall visible in the Kenting area; it can be reached by walking to the end of the stone-paved trail built in the scenic area. However, the flow of the Mountain-Sea Waterfall depends on the dry and rainy seasons. During the rainy season, abundant water cascades from the mountain top, creating a spectacular sight, while in the dry season, the water flows gently like a graceful young girl. The coastal areas of Jialeshui are situated along the Kuroshio warm current, making its marine resources abundant. From February to July each year is the peak season for marlin and milkfish, and various marine life such as pen shells, sea snails, tropical fish, snapper, lobsters, and mudskippers can often be seen gathering near the shore. Different species of large whales and dolphins frequently inhabit this area, making it not only a paradise for fishing enthusiasts but also a great place for whale watching.
