Jiali Water Scenic Area Introduction
Jialeshui, originally named Jialuoshui, was renamed by Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo during his visit in 1975, with the hope that this place would bring harmony and happiness. The Jialeshui Scenic Area is located near the northern port bay of Eluanbi, with a geographical location backed by mountains and facing the sea. The geology consists of layered sandstone, and it serves as the boundary between coral reef coastlines and sandstone coastlines, extending northward with a sandstone coastal terrain distinct from the coral reef coastlines in the southern part of the Hengchun Peninsula. The rock formations here have been sculpted into myriad shapes by long-term erosion from strong winds and ocean currents, featuring geological landscapes such as stone pearls, potholes, honeycomb stones, checkerboard stones, and coastal platforms, as well as vividly imaginative rock shapes such as rabbit stones, frog stones, sea turtle stones, checkerboard stones, and honeycomb stones, adding to the area's rich and diverse beauty. In addition to the spectacular rock formations, the Jialeshui Scenic Area is home to the "Mountain-Sea Waterfall," which rises 30 meters high. This is a rare coastal waterfall in Taiwan and the only large waterfall visible in the Kenting area. Visitors can see it by walking to the end of the stone-paved path created in the scenic area. However, the waterfall's water flow, cascading from the cliff into the sea, depends on the dry and rainy seasons; during the rainy season, the abundant water flows down from the mountaintop with a striking force, while in the dry season, the flow resembles a gentle stream. The coastal area of Jialeshui is warmed by the Kuroshio Current, making its marine resources abundant. From February to July each year, it is the peak season for swordfish and milkfish, and near the shore, one can often see various marine life gathering, such as abalones, conchs, tropical fish, snapper, lobsters, scallops, and mudskippers. Different species of large whales and dolphins are also frequently spotted, making this area not only considered a paradise for sea fishing but also a great spot for whale watching.
