Chihshang Floating Irrigation System Introduction
The Chishang Circular Irrigation Bike Path is planned and designed by the Hualien-Taitung Valley Scenic Area Administration. It is 8 kilometers long, featuring multiple different cycling routes along the way. The route has a gentle slope with an elevation difference of about 5 meters. The scenery offers vast agricultural landscapes, showcasing the typical Chishang views of green fields and beautiful rural landscapes. Historical waterwheels of various sizes line the irrigation channels, creating a nostalgic ambiance reminiscent of the simple rural life of the 1940s and 1950s. There are also rest pavilions where visitors can take breaks, making it a great place for a leisurely bike ride. It also provides an opportunity for an in-depth exploration of certain areas within Chishang Township. The Chishang irrigation channels are currently designated as historical buildings in Taitung County. The Circular Irrigation Bike Path integrates the terrain with existing country roads and the broad agricultural landscape, alongside the local culture of Chishang Township as its blueprint. It is meticulously planned and constructed, including two main routes: the A1, A2 main lines, and a challenging mountain route that goes through the rice production areas of Chishang.
