Chihshang Floating Canal Introduction
The Chishang Ring Canal Bicycle Path is designed and managed by the Hualien-Taitung Valley Scenic Area Administration. It spans a total length of 8 kilometers, featuring multiple different cycling routes along the way. The terrain is relatively flat with an elevation difference of about 5 meters. Along the path, there are expansive agricultural landscapes with picturesque views, as well as various attractions where visitors can appreciate the typical scenery of Chishang, characterized by lush green fields and beautiful rural landscapes. The ancient water wheels beside the canal exude a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the simple farming villages of the 1940s and 50s. There are also resting pavilions where you can stop to take a break, making it an ideal place for a leisurely bike ride and effectively a deep exploration of certain areas of Chishang Township. The Chishang Canal is currently listed as a "Historical Building" in Taitung County. The ring route bicycle path is meticulously planned and constructed according to the terrain and existing rural paths, integrating the local culture of Chishang Township. It includes a main route A1, A2, and two branch routes that pass through the rice-producing areas of Chishang and a more challenging mountain route.
