Xinliang Constructed Wetland Introduction
The Xinliang Drainage Artificial Wetland, located in Luye Township, Taitung County, is an emerging water-friendly park in the Luye area. To address the wastewater issues from pig farms and residences in the villages of Ruilong and Ruiyuan, the county government constructed the "Xinliang Drainage Artificial Wetland" at the confluence of the Beinan River and the Luli River. The park is divided into two main areas: Area A and Area B, which include "dense planting areas," "open water surface in Area A," "open water surface in Area B," and "artificial wetland." Various aquatic plants such as giant water lilies, water caltrop, and lotus are planted, utilizing the natural cycles of air, plants, soil, and microorganisms to filter and purify wastewater from the upstream areas before releasing it back into the Beinan River. This not only resolves the wastewater issue but also creates an ecological landscape with environmental education functions. The construction of the park incorporated driftwood from local typhoons as foundational materials for the embankments, minimizing concrete use to achieve energy saving and carbon reduction goals. The park serves multiple functions including ecological display, conservation benefits, educational promotion, environmental beautification, and recreational activities. The wetland is now home to various species of wild birds, amphibians, and aquatic animals. With improved water-friendly park facilities and the nearby Liji Mudstone landscape of the Ertsujing Moon World, the unique terrain and rich ecological scenery of the artificial wetland have become a new tourist attraction for the public and visitors.
