Xinyang Wetland Introduction
The New Liang Drainage Artificial Wetland, located in Luye Township, Taitung County, is an emerging recreational water park in the Luye area. To address the sewage issues faced by pig farmers and residences in the villages of Ruilong and Ruiyuan, the county government constructed the "New Liang Drainage Artificial Wetland" at the confluence of the Beinan River and Luliao River. The park is divided into two main areas, A and B, which include the "Dense Planting Area," "Open Water Area A," "Open Water Area B," and "Artificial Wetland." Various aquatic plants such as Victoria amazonica, Schoenoplectus, and water lilies have been planted, utilizing the cyclical processes of air, plants, soil, and microorganisms to naturally filter and purify the wastewater from upstream before discharging it into the Beinan River. This project not only addresses wastewater issues but also creates an ecological landscape with educational benefits regarding environmental protection. The construction utilized driftwood from local typhoon damage as the foundation material for the bank protection, reducing the amount of cement used to achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction goals. The park serves multiple functions, including ecological display, conservation benefits, educational promotion, environmental beautification, and recreational opportunities. The wetland is now home to various species of wild birds, amphibians, and shellfish, complemented by well-equipped hydrophilic park facilities and the scenic Liji mudstone layer of the neighboring Er Ceng Ping Moon World. The unique terrain and rich ecological scenery surrounding the artificial wetland have become a new tourist attraction for the public and visitors alike.
