Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction
Lanyu has both old and new lighthouses. The old lighthouse is located at Kaohsiung Harbor. Although it has been out of use for a long time, it has recently been fitted with railings, allowing visitors to easily reach it along a path. Its small and cute tower has made it a popular photo spot. The new lighthouse sits atop a hill on the northwest side of Lanyu, and it is the highest lighthouse in Taiwan. The path to the Lanyu lighthouse hides in a small corner of the round-the-island highway, easily overlooked. This bumpy and narrow path is flanked by tall reeds. Due to the poor road conditions, a sign stands at the entrance warning "No entry for motor vehicles," so caution is advised for safety. Along the way to the top, one can enjoy magnificent mountain and sea views. The cover of singer Chen Chien-Chien's album "The Earth" was taken along this path. Green fields, roads, blue skies, and mountains create a beautiful landscape painted by nature. As the altitude increases, the road and the people and vehicles upon it become smaller, eventually resembling model toys, complemented by the clear coastline. The sweat from the climb is blown away by the wind along with daily worries. More travel tips for Lanyu.
