Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction
Lanyu Island has both old and new lighthouses. The old lighthouse is located at Kaiyuan Harbor, and although it has been out of use for a long time, it has been fitted with guardrails in recent years, allowing visitors to easily access it via a pathway. Its small and charming structure has made this spot a popular photo opportunity. The new lighthouse sits atop a hill on the northwest side of Lanyu, making it the highest lighthouse in Taiwan. The path to the Lanyu Lighthouse is hidden in a small corner of the round-the-island highway, easily missed if one isn't careful. This narrow and bumpy path is lined with grass that towers over a person. Due to the rough conditions, a sign has been placed at the entrance warning "No entry for vehicles." If you want to visit, be mindful of your own safety. Along the way to the summit, you can enjoy magnificent mountain and sea views; the cover photo for singer Chen Jianian's album "Dadi" was taken along this route. The combination of green fields, roads, blue skies, and mountains creates a beautiful landscape as if painted by the heavens. As you gain altitude, the road and the people and vehicles on it become smaller, resembling little toy models against a distinct coastline, and the sweat from the climb is carried away by the wind along with daily worries.
