Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction
Lan Yu has both an old and a new lighthouse. The old lighthouse is located at Kaiyuan Harbor; although it has been out of use for a long time, it has recently been fitted with guardrails, allowing visitors to easily reach it along the trail. Its small and cute structure has made it a popular spot for photos. The new lighthouse sits at the top of a hill on the northwest side of Lan Yu and is the highest lighthouse in Taiwan in terms of elevation. The path leading to the Lan Yu lighthouse is hidden in a small corner of the circular highway, and one might easily overlook it. This path is bumpy and narrow, lined with tall pampas grass. Because the road is difficult to traverse, a sign stands at the entrance warning "No Entry for Motorcycles and Cars." Those wishing to visit should pay attention to their own safety. Along the way to the top, you can enjoy magnificent mountain and sea views; the cover of singer Chen Jian-yan's album "The Earth" was photographed along this route. Green fields, roads, blue skies, and wild mountains create a beautiful landscape crafted by nature. As you gain elevation, the road and the vehicles and people on it appear smaller, eventually resembling tiny models, complemented by the clear outlines of the coastline. The sweat from the uphill journey is brushed away by the wind, taking daily worries with it. For more travel advisories regarding Lan Yu, please check: [Lan Yu travel information].
