Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction

Lanyu has both an old and a new lighthouse. The old lighthouse is located at Kaiyuan Harbor. Although it has been out of use for many years, it has recently been fitted with a railing, making it easy for visitors to reach via a walking path. Its petite and charming structure has made it a popular spot for photos. The new lighthouse is situated at the top of a hill on the northwest side of Lanyu and is the highest lighthouse in Taiwan in terms of elevation. The path to the Lanyu lighthouse is hidden at a small corner of the circular highway, and one might accidentally pass by it. This path is bumpy and narrow, flanked by tall reed grass. Due to the rough condition of the road, a sign has been erected at the entrance warning "No entry for motor vehicles," so visitors should be mindful of their safety if they wish to go. Along the way to the top, one can casually gaze out and see the magnificent mountain and sea views. The cover of singer Chen Jian-ian's album "The Earth" was taken along this route. The greenery, roads, blue sky, and mountains create a beautiful landscape that seems crafted by the heavens. As you gain height, the road and the vehicles and people on it appear smaller, ultimately resembling tiny models, complemented by clear coastline outlines. The sweat from the climb is blown away by the wind, along with daily worries. More travel tips for Lanyu.
