Huayuan Bay Introduction
Located in Taimali Township, the Sunrise Memorial Park along the Southern Cross-Island Highway is a popular spot that attracts many visitors every New Year’s Day, as they cheer and wait for the first light of the new year to appear. The beautiful coastal scenery is an enticing part of the experience; however, outside of the Sunrise Memorial Park, there lies a lesser-known bay that also boasts stunning coastal views. This bay is called Huayuan Bay. As its name suggests, the road by the coast leads into Huayuan Village in Taimali Township, positioned between the Central Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. It is an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, and on clear days, one can also see Green Island and Orchid Island. With its azure sea and blue skies, along with a flat sandy beach, you can enjoy the tropical atmosphere without leaving the country. For the convenience of travelers, there are temporary parking lots and pavilions along the Southern Cross-Island Highway. On the beach, there are heart-shaped signboards and the words "Peace" to attract visitors to pause and appreciate the beauty of the area. If time permits, you can also take photos at the nearby Coconut Grove Avenue, which is just 100 meters long, but the coconut trees lining both sides against the vibrant sea make it a new secret photographic spot along the Southern Cross-Island Highway, earning the name "Coconut Sea Avenue" among photography enthusiasts.
