Huayuan Bay Introduction
Located in Taimali Township, the First Light Memorial Park on the Southern Cross-Island Highway is a popular destination every New Year’s Day, where many people gather to celebrate and wait for the first light of the new year to arrive. The beautiful coastal scenery is also a charming part of the experience. However, beyond the First Light Memorial Park, there is a lesser-known bay that also boasts stunning coastal views. It is called Huayuan Bay. As the name suggests, the road by the coast leads to Huayuan Village in Taimali Township, situated between the Central Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. This is an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, and on clear days, Green Island and Orchid Island can be seen in the distance. The azure sea and blue sky, combined with the smooth sandy beach, allow visitors to enjoy a tropical atmosphere without leaving the country. For the convenience of travelers, there are temporary parking lots and pavilions along the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The beach also features heart-shaped signboards and the words "Peace," hoping to attract people to stop and appreciate the beauty of the area. If time allows, visitors can also take photos at the nearby Coconut Grove Avenue. Although it is only 100 meters long, the coconut trees on both sides paired with the stunning sea view make this a new hidden gem for photographs along the Southern Cross-Island Highway, and many photography enthusiasts have named this place "Coconut Sea Avenue."
