Luye Shrine Introduction
Luye Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Company and constructed collaboratively by Japanese immigrant labor in Luye Village, relocated to its current site in 1931. The original shrine building was demolished after the war, leaving only its base. Although it was initially planned for demolition, local residents began an active campaign to preserve the local history in 2013. They eventually brought a master craftsman from Japan, who specializes in shrine restoration, to collaborate with Taiwanese carpenters to rebuild it on-site, completed in 2015. Standing in the plains, the shrine is surrounded by farms and hills, creating a serene and verdant historical landscape. Since its opening, it has attracted many visitors for photos. The relatively flat terrain around Luye Shrine and Longtian Village makes it quite suitable for cycling tours. Riding a bicycle while enjoying the breeze and sunlight, visitors can explore the Luye Longtian Bicycle Path and Longtian Ecological Village, savor freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea, along with fruit dried snacks made from local produce, immersing themselves in the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
