Luye Shrine Introduction
Luye Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Company and constructed by Japanese immigrants from Luye Village in collaboration with local residents. The shrine was moved to its current location in 1931 (Showa 6). The original shrine structure was demolished after the war, leaving only the base. Although it was initially planned for demolition, local residents began actively advocating for its preservation in 2013, which eventually led to the arrival of skilled craftsmen from Japan to restore the shrine, working together with Taiwanese carpenters. The reconstruction was completed in 2015. Standing on the plain, the shrine is surrounded by farms and hills, creating a tranquil and lush historical landscape. Since opening, it has attracted many tourists for photo opportunities. The area around Luye Shrine and Longtian Village has relatively flat terrain, making it ideal for bicycle tours. Riding a bike, visitors can enjoy the gentle breeze and sunlight while traversing the Luye Longtian Bicycle Path and Longtian Ecological Village, savoring freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea paired with locally made fruit snacks, immersing themselves in the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
