Luye Shrine Introduction
Ryuya Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Company and built collaboratively by the Japanese immigrant villagers of Luye, having been relocated to its current site in 1931 (Showa 6). The original shrine construction was demolished after the war, leaving only the foundation. It was initially planned for demolition as well, but local residents began advocating for the preservation of the local history in 2013. Finally, craftsmen specialized in shrine restoration from Japan were invited, and together with Taiwanese carpenters, the shrine was rebuilt on-site, completed in 2015. Standing on the plains, the shrine is framed by surrounding farms and hills, creating a tranquil and verdant historical landscape. After its opening, it has attracted many visitors for photo opportunities. The area around Ryuya Shrine and Longtian Village has relatively flat terrain, making it very suitable for cycling. Riding a bike, while enjoying the breeze and sunshine, visitors can leisurely explore the Luye Longtian Bike Path and Longtian Ecological Village, savoring freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea, paired with locally made dried fruits, and immerse themselves in the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
