Luye Shrine Introduction
Luye Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Corporation and built collectively by Japanese immigrants from Luye Village, and it was relocated to its current site in 1931 (Shōwa 6). The original shrine building was demolished after the war, leaving only the pedestal. Although there were plans to demolish it as well, local residents began to actively advocate for the preservation of local history in 2013. Eventually, a specialist from Japan who repairs shrines was invited to collaborate with Taiwanese carpenters to reconstruct it on site, completed in 2015. The shrine stands on the plain, surrounded by farms and hills, creating a serene and verdant historical landscape that attracts many visitors for photos since its opening. The terrain around Luye Shrine and Longtian Village is relatively flat, making it suitable for cycling. Riding a bicycle under the gentle breeze and sunlight, one can enjoy the Luye Longtian Cycling Path and Longtian Ecological Village, savoring freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea paired with locally made dried fruits, immersing oneself in the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
