Luye Shrine Introduction
Luye Shinto Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Corporation and built collaboratively by Japanese immigrants from Luye Village, moving to its current location in 1931 (Shōwa 6). The original shrine building was demolished after the war, leaving only the foundation which was also initially slated for demolition. However, local residents began actively advocating for the preservation of local history in 2013. They eventually invited a specialized craftsman from Japan to assist Taiwanese carpenters in reconstructing the shrine on site, which was completed in 2015. Standing in the plains, the shrine is surrounded by farms and hills, creating a tranquil and verdant historical landscape that has attracted many visitors for photo opportunities since its reopening. The terrain around Luye Shinto Shrine and Longtian Village is relatively flat, making it a great spot for cycling. Riding a bike, one can enjoy the breeze and sunshine while exploring the Luye Longtian Bike Path and Longtian Ecovillage, savoring freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea, along with fruit dried from local produce, immersing oneself in the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
