Luye Shrine Introduction
Luye Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Corporation and constructed jointly by the Japanese immigrant community of Luye during the Japanese colonial period, moving to its current location in 1931. The original shrine building was demolished after the war, leaving only the base, and there were plans for its demolition as well. However, local residents actively campaigned for the preservation of local history starting in 2013. They eventually invited a specialist from Japan to repair shrines, who collaborated with Taiwanese carpenters to rebuild it on site, completing the project in 2015. The shrine, standing in the plain, is surrounded by farms and hills, creating a tranquil and verdant historical landscape that attracts many visitors for photo opportunities after opening. The relatively gentle terrain of Luye Shrine and Longtian Village makes it particularly suitable for cycling tours. Riding a bike while enjoying the breeze and sunshine, visitors can explore the Luye Longtian Bicycle Path and Longtian Ecovillage, savoring freshly brewed coffee or Luye tea alongside local fruit snacks, immersing themselves in the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of Longtian Village.
