Hua Residence Settlement (renamed as Wang'an Hua Residence in conjunction with the Zeng Family Ancient House, now closed) Introduction
Wang'an Huazhai Village is one of the most well-preserved traditional settlements in the Penghu area. Over 300 years ago, Han Chinese immigrants arrived here, and the surrounding hills create a landscape resembling petals encircling a flower center. Residents cultivated the land and built homes near the flower center (the top of Shanzaiwei), hence the name "Huazhai." After Taiwan's recovery, it was renamed Zhongshe Village due to its geographical location in the center of the four villages of Wang'an Township. Among the ancient houses in Huazhai, the most famous is the "Zeng Family Ancient House," characterized by its red brick construction and Zeng-style windows. This splendid ancient house is the most well-preserved in the settlement, differing from most ancient houses in Penghu that are constructed with coral stones. The Zeng Family Ancient House is built with basalt, and its front windows feature a scroll window design that embodies a scholarly ambiance. Due to years of neglect, the descendants of the Zeng family pooled resources for restoration, and it has now become a shared spiritual home and symbol for the descendants of the Zeng family.
