Wang'an Huazhai Introduction

Wang-an Flower House Settlement is one of the best-preserved traditional settlements in the Penghu region. Over 300 years ago, Han immigrants came to this area, which is surrounded by hills, resembling petals surrounding a flower's center. The residents settled and built houses near the flower's center (Mount Zaiwei), thus the name "Flower House." After Taiwan's restoration, it was renamed Zhongsha Village due to its central location among the four villages in Wang-an Township. Among the ancient houses in the Flower House settlement, the most famous is the "Tseng Family Ancestral House," built with red bricks and featuring famous "Tseng windows." This splendid ancestral house is the most well-preserved in the settlement and differs from most ancient houses in Penghu, which are made of coral stone. The Tseng Family Ancestral House is built with basalt and has charming scroll-shaped windows filled with a scholarly ambiance. Due to years of neglect, descendants of the Tseng family raised funds for its restoration, and it has now become a shared spiritual home and symbol for the Tseng descendants.
