Wang'an Huazhai (merged with Zeng's ancient residence and renamed Wang'an Huazhai, thus closed) Introduction
Wang'an Huazhai, located in Zhongsha Village, Wang'an Township, Penghu, is a traditional garden house that once housed over a hundred Fujian-style buildings, reflecting the prosperity and flourishing of the past. The original name of Zhongsha Old House was "Huazhai," and in its center lies a small hill, which the residents refer to as "Huaxin," meaning the heart of the flower house. The Huazhai settlement is one of the best-preserved traditional settlements in the Penghu area. It got its name due to the landscape, surrounded by hills that resemble petals encircling the heart of the flower. The ancestors settled and built their homes near the Huaxin (top of the hill), hence it was called "Huazhai." Later, during a visit by Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo, he deemed Huazhai to be at the center of Zhongsha Village and renamed it to "Zhongsha Old House." The entire Zhongsha Village consists of ancient houses, exhibiting a unique settlement pattern of "one imprint" in Sanhe courtyard style. The old houses are well-preserved and hold significant historical and cultural value. It has been listed as one of the one hundred sites on the verge of extinction and is officially registered as a "Historical House Preservation Area" by the Council for Cultural Affairs. 【Suggested visiting time】 1 hour.
