Wang'an Huazhai (Merged with Zeng Family Ancient Residence and Renamed Wang'an Huazhai, Now Closed) Introduction
Wangan Huazhai, located in Zhongsha Village, Wangan Township, Penghu, is an ancient house that was once a garden of over a hundred Minnan-style buildings, showcasing the prosperity of that era. The original name of Zhongsha Ancient House was "Huazhai," and at its center is a small hill that residents refer to as "Huaxin," meaning the center of Huazhai. The Huazhai settlement is one of the most well-preserved traditional settlements in the Penghu area. The name Huazhai comes from its topography, surrounded by hills that resemble petals encircling the center of a flower. The ancestors cultivated the land and built houses near the Huaxin (the top of the hill), hence the name "Huazhai." Later, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo visited Huazhai and deemed it to be centrally located in Zhongsha Village, thus renaming it "Zhongsha" Ancient House. The entire Zhongsha Village is filled with ancient houses, representing a special settlement pattern of Sanhe courtyards, and is very well-preserved, holding historical and cultural significance. This site has been listed as one of the one hundred locations at risk of extinction and is officially registered as a "Ancient House Preservation Zone" by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. 【Recommended duration of stay】 1 hour
