Wai'an Village, Wai'an Fishing Port Introduction
Wai'an Village is located in the southern part of Xiyu Township, bordering Neian Village to the north. It has a natural barrier, making it less susceptible to the northeast monsoon. Wai'an Village is the most populated community in Xiyu Township. Due to its small land area, the houses are built along the coast, resulting in magnificent and unique appearances. The village's geography makes it very suitable for the development of fisheries, with a large harbor and a significant number of fishing boats (the village has the highest number of fishing boats in Penghu), making fishing the primary livelihood for most residents. Wai'an Fishing Port is classified as a second-class fishing port and is close to the Strait's migratory fishing grounds, resulting in vigorous fishing activities. In 2011, it was selected as one of the "Top 10 Charming Fishing Ports" by the Fisheries Agency in the cultural category. The port presents entirely different styles and imagery during the day and night. The residents mainly practice Taoism, and the Wen Wang Temple serves as the center of faith in Wai'an Village, honoring Wang Ye from Wenfu, as well as other deities including the Five Masters of the Heavenly Patrol: Zheng, Hu, Jiang, Ke, and Li. Nearby is Cihang Temple, a Buddhist temple dedicated to Guanyin Buddha. Wai'an Village hosts the Lantern Festival Fishing Fire Festival, riddle guessing events, and blessing processions annually, where boats gather at Wai'an Fishing Port. At the auspicious time, fishing lights illuminate the port, making the night sky as bright as day with countless lights, attracting many tourists to participate in the festivities each year. 【Suggested Stay Duration】 1 hour
