Wai'an Village, Wai'an Fishing Port Introduction

Wai'an Village is located in the southern part of Xiyu Township, bordered to the north by Nei'an Village, providing a natural shield that makes it less susceptible to northeastern monsoon attacks. Wai'an Village is the most populated community in Xiyu Township; due to its small inland area, houses are built along the coast, resulting in a grand and unique appearance. The terrain makes Wai'an Village very suitable for developing the fishing industry, with a large fishing port and many fishing boats (the village has the highest number of fishing boats in Penghu), making fishing the primary livelihood for most residents. Wai'an Fishing Port is classified as a Type II fishing port, close to the Strait of Taiwan's fishing grounds, with strong fishing activities. In 2011, it was selected as one of the “Top 10 Charming Fishing Ports” in the "National 10 Major Charming Fishing Ports" selection, specifically in the cultural gathering category. The port area presents a completely different style and imagery between day and night. Most residents here practice Taoism, with Wen Wang Temple as the center of faith in Wai'an Village, where the local deity, King Wen, is worshiped, along with other deities including the Five Lords of Heaven: Zheng, Hu, Jiang, Ke, and Li. Next to it is Cihang Temple, a Buddhist temple dedicated to Guanyin Buddha. Every year, Wai'an Village holds events such as the Lantern Festival Fishing Fire Festival, riddle guessing night, and blessing processions. At night, boats gather in Wai'an Fishing Port, and when the auspicious time arrives, the fishing lights illuminate the night sky, making it as bright as daytime, attracting many tourists to Wai'an to participate in the festivities. 【Recommended Stay Duration】 1 hour
