Hu Jing Xi Mountain Park Introduction
Hujing Island is the seventh largest island in the Penghu archipelago, located 7 nautical miles from Magong City. The island is divided into two mountains, east and west, with villages situated between them. The eastern mountain is currently a military restricted area and is not open to the public, while the western mountain, after the military's strategic withdrawal, has been transformed into a park recreational area. There is only one main road on the western mountain; as you drive up this road, you can see the basalt column formations on the left-hand side. Continuing along this road leads to Xishan Park. In Xishan Park, there is a large statue of Guanyin made of white marble and eighteen arhats. This Guanyin statue was sculpted by a master from mainland China at the request of local resident Chen Ying-jie, who resides in Hong Kong, and was donated to his long-lost hometown in 1994. The statue's features and flowing garments are remarkably lifelike. Initially, the statue could not be transported back by boat and was split into three parts for transport to Hujing, leaving two noticeable seams on it. From the Guanyin statue in Xishan Park, on a clear day, one can gaze out at the nearby islands. Further along, there is also the Hujing West Mountain underground fort and the Tropic of Cancer monument. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours; since the stay on Hujing is short, it is suggested to spend a night in a local guesthouse.
