Lotus Seat Introduction
The Lotus Seat, located on the coastal platform southwest of Dongyin Island, is actually a volcanic crater. Due to frequent erosion by seawater, it has formed a depression, with a small hillock in the center standing out. When viewed from above or from a distance, it resembles a large, beautiful blooming lotus flower, hence the name Lotus Seat. One of the most special times to visit is during low tide, when the entire Lotus Seat is exposed. From the basalt rock columns, it looks like a lotus flower sprouting from the water. If it happens to be dusk, combined with the golden afterglow, the scene is truly breathtaking! Up close, after the tide recedes, the appearance of the Lotus Seat is made of basalt, surrounded by rings of basalt rocks, with pools of seawater left over from high tide in the middle, along with some mottled traces of basalt. But it's definitely not mud; it is real basalt, eroded by seawater. The prominently raised basalt hillock in the center stands out like the stamen of a lotus flower, and there is nearby grass growing well in the basalt environment, creating a beautiful scene. The Lotus Seat is indeed an underwater volcanic crater, but rest assured, it is not the type of volcano that will erupt, so it is safe for sightseeing! The Lotus Pavilion at dusk shines with the afterglow, so make sure to take the opportunity to see it! 【Recommended stay duration】 0.5 hours; Dongyin is typically for cruising or short stops, so it is suggested to stay overnight at a homestay on the island.
