Lotus Seat Introduction
The Lotus Seat in Zhūnchūi is located on the marine erosion platform southwest of Dongyin Island. The Lotus Seat is actually a volcanic crater structure. Due to constant erosion by seawater, it has formed a depression, with the exception of a small hill that protrudes in the center. From above or viewed from a distance, it resembles a huge, beautiful blooming lotus flower, which is why it is also referred to as the Lotus Seat. What makes it particularly special is during low tide, when the entire Lotus Seat becomes visible. Observing from the basalt pillars, it looks as if lotus flowers are sprouting from the water. If it happens to be around dusk, combined with the golden afterglow, the whole scene is truly breathtaking! Up close, the appearance of the Lotus Seat after low tide is made of basalt, with the outer rim formed by circles of basalt, while the center is filled with seawater left from high tide and some weathered basalt marks. However, this is definitely not mud; it's real basalt that has merely been eroded by seawater. The prominent central basalt hill resembles the flower center of a lotus, standing out vividly. Nearby, there is grassland suited for growing near the basalt, creating a beautiful and picturesque scene. In fact, the Lotus Seat is a submarine volcanic crater, but rest assured, it is not of the type that erupts, making it safe for tourism! The Lotus Seat at dusk is illuminated by the afterglow, so if you have the chance, be sure to see it! [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours; Dongyin is mostly for cruising or brief stops, so it's recommended to stay overnight at a homestay on the island.
