Zhongtun Wind Turbines Introduction
Zhongtun, an ancient place name, is called Zhongdun due to its location between Penghu Main Island and Baisha Island, forming a mound of earth. After the retrocession, the name was phonetically changed to Zhongtun. Later, Yong'an Bridge and Chiang Kai-shek Bridge were built to connect Baisha to the north and Penghu Main Island to the south. Subsequently, with the construction of cross-sea bridges, Magong City, Huxi, Baisha, and Xiyu Town were linked together. While traveling along the Northern Circular Tour Route and crossing Chiang Kai-shek Bridge, you will notice eight white wind turbines shining in the sky. The northeast monsoon in winter and the southeasterly wind in summer blow across the blades, creating an impressive whoosh. To green the Penghu Islands, Taiwan Power Company has established eight wind power plants in Penghu, a region rich in wind resources, making it the first area in Taiwan to use wind power generation. This electricity also provides 10% of Penghu County's power consumption, which is quite environmentally friendly. The wind farm in Zhongtun Village, Baisha Township, is the second wind power plant in Taiwan and the third-generation wind turbine in Penghu, consisting of four 6-kilowatt white wind turbines. When wind conditions change, the angle of the blades can be adjusted accordingly, allowing the rotation speed to be adjusted based on power generation needs. At the entrance, there is a pavilion and a coastal viewing park where visitors can take pictures with the giant wind turbines. This area has been planned to become a wind turbine park, making it a famous tourist destination and new landmark in Baisha Township. During the Northern Circular Tour, you can get off and take photos with these giant wind turbines, which are equipped with night lighting fixtures, casting beams of light upward from the turbine bases at night, making the moving turbines appear even whiter and brighter. Next to it is the Zhongtun Green Energy Park in Baisha, equipped with corridors, pavilions, viewing platforms, and more. 【Recommended stay time】 1 hour.
