Jiangmei Town Haisha Community Seawall Park Introduction
Jiangmei, formerly known as "Gangwei," is named for its geographical location at the end of Zhenhai Harbor. In the early days, villagers lived in clusters, eventually forming a community that was named Gangwei, and it was officially renamed "Jiangmei" in 1955. The Jiangmei Zhenhai Community Coastal Park connects the Jiangmei and Zhenhai communities. In May 1999, through the collaboration of the Jiangmei and Zhenhai communities, a design was created featuring a community logo shaped like "OK," adding a fun and memorable landmark to the coastal park. The well-known Taiwanese band Mayday has recorded programs here and performed a song titled "OK lah," which fits the local scenery perfectly. The Jiangmei OK logo is constructed from concrete materials, adorned with local Penghu特色 stone. After passing the Yong'an Bridge on County Road 203, one can notice this OK logo, hidden behind low walls and greenery. There are also wooden stairs and a gazebo viewing platform nearby, allowing visitors to take a break, enjoy the sea and sky scenery, and relish a moment of peace and leisure. Crossing the breakwater, one is greeted by an endless, expansive view of the shell sand beach. The daily changes of the tides bring different appearances to the coastal park's scenery. At high tide, the fine, flat shell beach and the blue, crystal-clear sea lie peacefully in this place, rising and falling with the wind and tides. Gazing out at the distant sea, one can faintly see Pingzhi Islet and a coastal observation post known as Jiangmei Haizhonggang, each occupying a corner of the sea, existing beautifully in solitude.
