Qimei Ren's Mound Introduction
Qimei People's Mound is located in Nangang Village of Qimei Township in Penghu. If you walk towards the southeast to Nanhugang, you will see the legendary Qimei People's Mound. There are two stone tablets at Qimei People's Mound, which are the only two remaining today, located in front of and behind the fragrant flower trees. The inscriptions on them have become illegible due to age. According to legend, bandits once landed on Qimei from the nearby coast, burning, killing, and plundering in the village. The seven women in the village, unwilling to be insulted by the bandits, committed suicide by jumping into a well together. To commemorate these seven chaste women, the villagers filled the well with soil, and soon a fragrant flower tree grew beside the well, which emitted a strong fragrance. Therefore, they erected a monument in memory of them. For over four hundred years, the fragrant flower tree beside Qimei People's Mound has continued to emit its fragrance and blooms every year. As a result, the nearby residents faithfully worship at Qimei People's Mound. It is said that this is the origin of the name Qimei. In the Penghu area, there is a belief in "Hua Niang," referring to unmarried women as "Hua Niang." It is believed that the seven maidens of Qimei People's Mound are all Hua Niang, so if men behave frivolously at Qimei People's Mound, they will be punished by these seven Hua Niang! 【Recommended Stay Time】 0.5 hours
