Qimei Shrine Introduction
The Seven Beauties Tomb is located in the Nangang Village of Qimei Township in Penghu. Walking towards the southeast direction at Nanhuharbor, you can see the legendary Seven Beauties Tomb. There are two stone tablets at the Seven Beauties Tomb, which are the only two remaining, placed in front of and behind the fragrant flower tree. The inscriptions on them have become blurred and unreadable over time. There is a legend about the Seven Beauties Tomb, which tells of thieves who landed on Qimei from the nearby coast and ravaged the village. The seven maidens in the village, unwilling to endure the thieves' humiliation, jumped into a well together to end their lives. To commemorate these seven virtuous women, the villagers filled in the well with soil, and soon after, fragrant flower trees began to grow nearby, emitting a sweet aroma. A stone tablet was erected in their honor, and for over four hundred years, the fragrant flower trees beside the Seven Beauties Tomb have continued to emit a pleasant scent and bloom every year. As a result, local residents sincerely worship at the Seven Beauties Tomb, which is said to be the origin of the name change to Qimei. In the Penghu region, there is a belief in the Flower Maiden, referring to unmarried women as "Flower Maidens." It is said that the seven maidens at the Seven Beauties Tomb were all Flower Maidens, so if men engage in frivolous behavior at the Seven Beauties Tomb, they will be punished by these seven Flower Maidens!
