Qimei Village Introduction
Qimei Lady Mound is located in Nankang Village of Qimei Township in Penghu. If you walk southeast towards Nanhuh Port, you will see the legendary Qimei Lady Mound. It has two stone tablets, which are the only two remaining today, located in front of and behind the fragrant flower trees. The inscriptions on them have become blurred and are no longer legible due to their age. There is a legend about the Qimei Lady Mound: once, thieves landed on Qimei from the nearby coast, burning, killing, and looting in the village. The seven women in the village, unwilling to suffer the thieves' humiliation, chose to jump into a well to end their lives. To commemorate these seven virtuous women, the villagers filled the well with soil. Soon after, fragrant flower trees grew beside the well, emitting a very pleasant fragrance, leading to the erection of a monument. For over four hundred years, the fragrant flower trees beside Qimei Lady Mound have continued to emit their fragrance and bloom yearly, so nearby residents sincerely worship at the Qimei Lady Mound. It is said that this is the origin of the name Qimei. In the Penghu area, there is a belief in “flower daughters,” referring to unmarried women known as “flower daughters.” It is said that the seven maidens of the Qimei Lady Mound were all flower daughters, so if men exhibit frivolous behavior when visiting the Qimei Lady Mound, they will be punished by these seven flower daughters! 【Recommended Stay Time】 0.5 hours
