Confucius Temple Introduction
The predecessor of the Penghu Confucius Temple was the Wenshih Academy, which was the earliest cultural dissemination site in Penghu. Located in the eastern suburbs of Magong City, it was established by Hu Jianwei, the 18th magistrate of Penghu, in the 31st year of the Qianlong reign. Due to the abundance of the local "Wenshih" stone in Penghu, symbolizing the colorful talents nurtured by the academy, it was named "Wenshih Academy."
