Confucius Temple Introduction
The Penghu Confucian Temple originated from the Wenshi Academy, which was the earliest cultural dissemination center in Penghu. It is located in the eastern suburbs of Magong City and was established by Hu Jianwei, the 18th magistrate of Penghu, in the 31st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. Due to the abundance of Wenshi stone in Penghu, which symbolizes the academy nurturing talents as colorful as the patterns of the stone, it was named "Wenshi Academy."
