Zhang's Martyrs' Memorial Arch Introduction
To honor Zheng Yongjin's wife, Zhang Zaoniang, a memorial arch was approved for construction in the fifth year of the Tongzhi reign. The Zhang family’s Chaste and Filial Arch was officially built in 1871 next to the Wannen Bridge in Nanya. Zhang Zaoniang married Zheng Yongjin as his second wife in 1820. After Zheng's passing, she independently raised their three sons, demonstrating exceptional filial piety and maintaining her chastity for forty-nine years, making her a unique case to be honored with a memorial arch.
