Hsinchu Railway Station - Front Square Introduction

The plaza in front of Hsinchu Railway Station underwent a landscape renovation project in 2018, featuring brand new pedestrian pathways and designs for barrier-free access and the separation of pedestrians and vehicles, enhancing pedestrian safety and bringing citizens closer to the plaza, thereby revitalizing the city's facade. The front plaza has been transformed into a visually penetrating area with spacious flat pedestrian walkways that not only ensure safety but also allow wheelchair users to navigate easily. Moreover, the plaza serves as a popular venue for performances, gatherings, and socializing among young people. Integrating the concepts of "big park" and "human-centric design," the plaza accommodates 1,500 people, allowing for the flow of pedestrians and vehicles separately, ensuring that pedestrians do not have to compete with vehicles for space. This creates a safe and comfortable waiting area and connects to a 4-kilometer stretch known as "Hsinchu Forest," which links the moat, Fu-Hou Street corner plaza, Cultural Affairs Bureau green corridor, Hsinchu Greenway, and Long-En Canal.
