Hsinchu Railway Station - Station Front Square Introduction
Hsinchu Railway Station's square underwent landscape renovation in 2018, resulting in brand new pedestrian walkways and a design that separates pedestrians from vehicles, enhancing safety for pedestrians and bringing citizens closer to the square. The square now presents a refreshed city facade. The renovation created a visually permeable plaza with spacious flat walkways that are not only safe but also accessible for wheelchair users. Additionally, the square has become a popular venue for young people to perform, gather, and chat. The design incorporates the concepts of "large parks" and "human-centered" approaches, accommodating a pedestrian plaza for 1,500 people that allows for the separation of people and vehicles, ensuring pedestrians do not compete with vehicles for space, thereby creating a safe and comfortable resting and waiting area. It also connects to the moat, the corner square of Fuhou Street, the Cultural Affairs Bureau green corridor, the Hsinchu Greenway, and the 4-kilometer "Hsinchu Forest" along Long'en Canal.
