Hsinchu Railway Station - Front Square Introduction
The plaza in front of Hsinchu Railway Station underwent a landscape renovation project in 2018, featuring a completely new pedestrian walkway and a design that separates pedestrians from vehicles, enhancing pedestrian safety and bringing citizens closer to the plaza, giving the city facade a fresh look. The front plaza creates a visually penetrating space with spacious flat walkways that are safe and accessible for wheelchair users. Additionally, the plaza serves as a popular venue for performances, gatherings, and socializing among young people. The front plaza incorporates the concepts of "Great Park" and "Human-centric" design, accommodating 1,500 people in a walking area that separates pedestrian traffic from vehicles, ensuring pedestrians do not compete with cars for space, thereby creating a safe and comfortable resting area for waiting passengers. It also connects the city moat, the corner square of Fuhou Street, the green corridor of the Cultural Bureau, Hsinchu Greenway, and the Long'en Drain, forming a 4-kilometer "Hsinchu Forest."
