Jiaozi Ceramics Museum (closed for renovation) Introduction
The only museum dedicated to Glazed Earthenware in Taiwan is located at the cultural center opposite the Beimen Station of the Alishan Railway. Chiayi is the hometown of Glazed Earthenware, known in Japan as "Chiayi ware," and most artisans of this craft learn their skills in Chiayi. Locally, it is commonly referred to as "Glazed Earthenware," "Glazed Earthenware Figurines," or "Glazed Earthenware Dolls." In the early days, this craft was often used in the decoration of temple architecture, with traditional themes focusing on figures engaged in fishing, wood gathering, farming, and studying, complemented by scenes of insects, fish, birds, animals, flowers, and plants, creating a harmonious and clearly defined composition.
