Ueshima Coffee Introduction

In a nostalgic reminder of the past, Shangdao Coffee was born in 1979 through a series of fortunate events. At Shangdao Coffee, you can listen to the history of Taiwan's beverage industry and taste freshly roasted single-origin coffee while appreciating the transition of eras. This is a classic of Chiayi and a representation of continuous progress. The owner, Wu Yizheng, recalls stepping into the coffee roasting business over 30 years ago, at a time when few understood the art of coffee. Driven by his passion and vision, he persevered through the era of the bubble tea craze. However, thanks to the solid accumulation of coffee and beverage raw materials from those years, he seized the opportunity for innovation and transformation that has led to today's coffee beverage and catering industry. Many stories of Chiayi people have unfolded here, where a cup of coffee accompanies countless beautiful memories. After over 30 years of experience, Wu can be considered a coffee roasting expert in Chiayi, insisting that the coffee beans on the shelves are always freshly roasted within the last seven days. Every raw material and brewing tool is meticulously selected. Here, it’s not just about selling coffee; it’s about creating a space for sharing and enjoying coffee. The high, spacious, and bright venue allows those who visit to engage in lively conversations and drink from the heart. In recent years, Shangdao has been at the forefront of local coffee culture, offering various educational courses aimed at helping local farmers from Chiayi to develop their own roasting techniques, brand packaging, and marketing strategies. Together with like-minded farmers, they aim to expand the entire coffee culture industry in Chiayi. Regular coffee aesthetic sharing sessions are held, akin to tea ceremonies as an art form. The process of brewing with various exquisite coffee equipment is indeed a lifestyle art for every coffee artisan, merging visual, olfactory, gustatory experiences, and literary enjoyment. With each sip, one tastes a rich and warm aroma, evoking memories of many lives in Chiayi. Recommended dishes: hand-brewed coffee, siphon coffee.
