Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located next to the Chiayi Lumber Factory, was established in 2004 and was the only large-scale comprehensive multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area at that time. Its exhibits primarily focus on the natural landscapes of Chiayi, including geology and fossils. In 2018, the museum closed for updates to its exhibitions and redefined itself as a "City Museum" of Chiayi, with a new mission of "Chiayi people caring about Chiayi affairs, and outsiders exploring Chiayi City." It showcases the cultural characteristics, citizen history, and living memories of Chiayi City, aiming to become a museum belonging to the city and its citizens. The Chiayi City Museum, newly positioned as a "City Museum," offers a fresh space and content that allow visitors to view Chiayi in a new light. The first floor features the "Explore Chiayi Garden" children's hall, where kids can experience the history of the city through play. The second floor hosts the "Glimpse of Jhu Luo" permanent exhibition, allowing visitors to see Chiayi, understand history, envision the future, and reflect on themselves. The third floor is dedicated to "Architecture on Stage – Come and Listen to the Temple Man Tell Stories," featuring a special exhibition of Chiayi's unique craftsmanship, earthenware from the Quanzhou region, in a museum-within-a-museum format. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00.
