Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located adjacent to the Chiayi Wood Industry Warehouse, was established in 2004 and was the only large-scale comprehensive multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area at the time of its opening. The exhibits primarily focus on the natural landscapes of Chiayi, including geology and fossils. In 2018, the museum closed for updates to its displays and redefined itself as the "City Museum of Chiayi," with a new mission of "Chiayi people caring about Chiayi affairs and outsiders exploring Chiayi City." It showcases the cultural characteristics of Chiayi City, the history of its citizens, and memories of everyday life, aiming to become a museum belonging to the city and its people. The redefined Chiayi City Museum, now a "City Museum," offers a fresh space and content that allows visitors to revisit the city of Chiayi. The first floor features the "Exploring Chiayuan" children's hall, where children can experience the history of the city through play. The second floor hosts the permanent exhibition "Prospect of Zhuo Luo," which allows visitors to see Chiayi, its history, its future, and themselves through the exhibits. The third floor features "Performing Arts in Architecture - Come Listen to Temple Storytellers," a studio for Traditional Glazed Pottery, presenting the unique craft of Chiayi's Traditional Glazed Pottery in a "museum within a museum" format. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00.
