Liucuo Village Centenary Tree Introduction
The century-old banyan tree in Liou Tso Village, Chiayi City, is estimated to be around 200 years old. Located near the cemetery in Liou Tso Village, it is revered as the "Old Bird Banyan" of Wanling Gong. The tree's natural shape resembles a large umbrella. Currently, the Wanling Gong Temple is thriving with a constant flow of worshippers seeking blessings. In the winter of 1977, the Wanling Gong Temple Management Committee was established, with Mr. Chen Jinzhong serving as the chairman, actively fundraising and improving the surrounding environment, and planning new constructions, including an octagonal pavilion, a fish pond, a Changchun club, and paved roads. Volunteers assist with maintenance and services, revitalizing the environment around the old banyan tree. Former Mayor Ms. Chang Po-ya visited and honored it with the title "Zhulun Bird Banyan King." The Zhulun Bird Banyan King is very impressive, with a canopy area of about over 1,000 square meters. Its sturdy lateral branches stand erect, supporting the trunk as it continues to grow outward. Thanks to the efforts of the government and residents, it has flourished, creating a cool shaded area while providing suitable play equipment for children, making this place a great spot for people of all ages.
