Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located next to the Chiayi Lumber Factory, was established in 2004 and was the only large-scale comprehensive multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area at the time of its opening. The exhibition focuses on the natural landscapes of Chiayi, such as its geology and fossils. In 2018, the museum closed for updates and repositioned itself as the "City Museum" of Chiayi, adopting a new mission to engage locals in caring about Chiayi matters and encourage visitors to explore the city. It showcases the cultural characteristics, history, and life memories of Chiayi citizens, aspiring to be a museum that belongs to the city and its people. The renewed Chiayi City Museum, defined as a "City Museum," offers a fresh space and content that allows audiences to see Chiayi from a new perspective. On the first floor, the "Exploring Chiayi Garden" children's hall lets children experience the city's history through play; the second floor features the permanent exhibition "Vision of Chuluo," which allows visitors to see Chiayi, its history, the future, and themselves through the exhibits; the third floor presents the "Architectural Storytelling—Come Listen to the Temple Narrator" featuring Chiayi's distinctive craft of Glazed Earthenware. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00.
