Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located next to the Chiayi Lumber Factory, was established in 2004 and was the only large-scale comprehensive multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area at the time of its establishment. The main exhibition theme focuses on the geological features and fossils of Chiayi. After closing for exhibition updates in 2018, the museum repositioned itself as the "City Museum" of Chiayi City, with a new mission of "Chiayi people care about Chiayi affairs, and outsiders explore Chiayi City," showcasing the cultural characteristics, citizen history, and living memories of Chiayi City, aiming to become a museum belonging to the city and its citizens. The Chiayi City Museum, redefined as a "City Museum," offers a renewed space and content that allows visitors to view Chiayi City from a fresh perspective. The first floor features the "Exploring Jiayuan" Children's Hall, where children can experience the city's history through play. The second floor houses the permanent exhibition "Prospects of Zhu Luo," which allows visitors to see Chiayi, witness history, envision the future, and reflect on themselves. The third floor, titled "The Theater on Architecture – Come and Listen to the Temple Storyteller," contains the Chiayi traditional craft exhibition of Da Xi Ceramic in a museum-within-a-museum format. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00.
