Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located next to the Chiayi Lumber Yard, was established in 2004. At its inception, it was the only large-scale comprehensive multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area, focusing on the natural landscapes of Chiayi, such as geology and fossils. The museum closed in 2018 for exhibition updates and repositioned itself as the "City Museum" of Chiayi, with a new mission of "Chiayi people caring for Chiayi affairs, and outsiders exploring Chiayi City." It showcases the cultural characteristics of Chiayi City, the history of its citizens, and their memories, aspiring to become a museum belonging to the city and its people. The redefined "City Museum" of Chiayi City offers a new space and content for visitors to gain a fresh perspective on the city. The first floor features the "Exploring Chiayi Garden" children's hall, allowing children to experience the city's history through play. The second floor hosts the permanent exhibition "Prospect of Zhuolu," which enables visitors to see Chiayi, understand history, envision the future, and discover themselves. The third floor presents the "Architectural Performance - Listen to the Temple Storyteller," a museum within a museum showcasing the unique craft of Chiayi, the tradeware of earthenware. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00.
