Magang Intertidal Zone Introduction
Located in the Gongliao District of New Taipei City, the Magang Intertidal Zone in front of Magang Fishing Port is approximately a hundred meters in length and width. It is the area in Taiwan with the most green algae growth. The surface of the wave-cut platform is relatively flat, and the terrain belongs to a wave-cut platform, featuring many small tidal pools and gutters, making it suitable for close exploration of intertidal ecology on foot. In the tidal pools or under rocks, you can find small fish fry, sea anemones, periwinkles, whelks, cowries, sea hares, and crabs, along with slowly moving little hermit crabs. Near the low tide zone, you can find small red algae, coral algae, sea anemones, barnacles, and sea squirt. The best part is that this area showcases different scenery throughout the year, and you can observe intertidal organisms at any season. In spring, the wave-cut platform is adorned with lush green seaweed and algae, resembling a natural green carpet, making it the best time for family ecological tours.
