Magang Intertidal Zone Introduction
Located in the Gongliao District of New Taipei City, the Magang Intertidal Zone in front of the Magang Fishing Port spans approximately one hundred meters in length and width. It is the area in Taiwan where green algae grow the most. The surface of the wave-cut platform is relatively flat, characterized as a wave-cut platform, with many small tide pools and tidal creeks, making it suitable for close exploration of intertidal ecology on foot. In the tide pools or under the rocks, you can find juvenile fish, sea anemones, Nassaridae, conch, cowrie, sea hares, and crabs, as well as slowly moving little hermit crabs. In the vicinity of the low tide area, you can find tiny mosses, coralline algae, sea anemones, barnacles, and sea squirts growing. The best part is that this location offers different seasonal scenery throughout the year, where intertidal organisms can be observed. In spring, the wave-cut platform is covered with lush green seaweed and algae, resembling a layer of natural green carpet, making it the best season for family ecological trips.
