Magang Intertidal Zone Introduction
The Magang Intertidal Zone in front of Magang Fishing Port, located in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, measures approximately over a hundred meters in length and width. It is the area in Taiwan's coastline with the most marine algae growth. The surface of the wave-cut platform is quite flat, and the terrain consists of a wave-cut platform with many small tidal pools and channels, making it suitable for close exploration of intertidal ecology on foot. In the tidal pools or under the rocks, you can find small fish fry, sea anemones, periwinkles, conchs, cowries, sea hares, and crabs, as well as slowly moving hermit crabs. Near the lower tide zone, there are small seaweeds, coral algae, sea anemones, barnacles, and sea squirts growing. The best part is that this place showcases different scenery throughout the year, and intertidal organisms can be observed all year round. In spring, the wave-cut platform is covered with lush green sea vegetables and algae, resembling a layer of natural green carpet, making it the best season for family ecological tours.
