San Hsieh Cheng Cake Museum Introduction
San Hsieh Cheng Pastry Museum is located on the bustling Tamsui Old Street, and during weekends, it welcomes a large number of visitors, both young and old, eager to sample a variety of pastries. San Hsieh Cheng was established in 1935, initially founded by the current owner's grandfather, who taught the second and third generations of three brothers how to make Quanzhou-style pastries. The name San Hsieh Cheng signifies the hope that the three brothers can work together cooperatively. In the early days, the shop started by making wedding cakes and later learned to make British fruit pies from the chef of the British consulate, resulting in a unique blend of traditional and Western flavors in their pastries. Additionally, to promote local tourism and help travelers from around the world better understand Tamsui, the shop thoughtfully provides historical and cultural materials about Tamsui in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, German, and French, for free access by domestic and international visitors. The shop always offers various pastries for customers to sample, along with free hot tea and seating, making it one of the well-known destinations for both domestic and foreign tourists. The "Pastry Museum" established in the shop showcases the unique pastry culture of the local blend of Chinese and Western styles, displaying vintage pastry molds, and has become an important cultural attraction in Tamsui.
