Bali River Leisure Trail Introduction
The Balien Creek Leisure Trail is located beside the pure waters of Balien Creek, which runs through the entire Sanzhi District and is the main river of the area. According to legend, eight families settled here in the past, building homes along the valley, which is why the settlement is named "Baxianli." To accommodate daily life, numerous small irrigation canals were created for various purposes such as washing clothes, irrigation, electricity generation, rice milling, and tea production. The Balien Creek Leisure Trail stretches approximately 1.79 kilometers along both banks of Balien Creek beneath the Putou Bridge. This area has a wider river surface and slower water flow, and after improvements, the leisure trail was completed. It has become a popular riverside park for summer leisure activities and has developed into a well-known tourist attraction in New Taipei City. Currently, efforts to protect fish in the creek are underway, resulting in crystal-clear waters where fish can often be seen swimming. The sound of flowing water can be heard from the waterwheels, and along the trail, there are fields of bamboo shoots, known as "beautiful legs." Walking along the trail, one can enjoy the refreshing breeze between the fields, washing away the hustle and bustle of the city and bringing a sense of peace and relaxation.
